The Flash’s Hottest Arrowverse Villain is Returning to the Comics

Warning! Spoilers ahead for The Flash #773!

In The Flash #773, the Scarlet Speedster’s hottest Arrowverse villain, Heatwave, returns to Central City. By this issue, Wally West has returned from his crazy journey throughout time. The Speed Force has let him go and he’s presumably learned his lesson, whatever that turns out to be. Wally’s back in the present day and is ready to return to his duty as protector of Central City, claiming the role that Barry Allen offered him in Infinite Frontier #0.

Unbeknownst to Wally, what awaits him is the tough hardships of the normal world. Balancing his family life with his time as the Flash, saving people, and defeating villains when needed. But also being there for his family, considering that he’s been gone for so long. However, according to the solicitation for this issue, Wally’s forgotten that to live he must earn money. This leads Wally to take on a position at Mr. Terrific’s Holt Industries, where he will utilize his talents. Whilst Wally is adjusting back to reality, a familiar foe is hatching his big return to villainy.

In The Flash #773 by Jeremy Adams, Jim Conrad, and Alex Sinclair, Heatwave returns for the first time since his retirement from being a criminal. Is it old habits or is something else going on? Well, that’s the mystery that Wally and readers will be uncovering in Flash’s newest adventure. It seems that Heatwave’s arrival catches the Flash off guard, as he struggles to adapt. Fans will be excited to see Heatwave, one of the Flash’s biggest and most well-known villains, return, as it’s been a while. Check out the cover art below:

As of now, it looks like the rest of the Flash’s rogues gallery are not in business with the fiery villain. Although if Heatwave does return past this issue, it’s very possible someone like Captain Cold could reemerge too. A lot of the issue will be Wally finding out why Heatwave is back and off on criminal capers like he used to do. Additionally, the solicitation notes that he is hellbent on destruction. Something must have triggered Heatwave’s desire to cause fiery chaos once more, or is he just itching for destruction?

The new Flash will have to step up his game if he’s going to stop Heatwave. The cover art, seen above, teases that Wally will be in big trouble if he comes face to face with Heatwave’s iconic flamethrower. There’s a chance that he barely makes it out alive, scorched by the flames of destruction. Either way, the Flash has his work cut out for him. Check out The Flash #773 when it releases in August to find out who wins in the battle between Wally West and Heatwave.
