The Farscape universe is set to return for another adventure, thanks to a newly-announced BOOM! Studios campaign. The Farscape 25th Anniversary Celebration BOOM! Direct Reserve Campaign launching on Kickstarter is celebrating the major milestone by offering an impressive collection of comic books, collectibles, and exclusives to fans of the cult classic space opera, including a new special issue.
Farscape was created by Rockne S. O’Bannon in a partnership with The Jim Henson Company. It aired from 1999 to 2003, spanning four seasons. After being canceled despite a cliffhanger ending, the series concluded with the miniseries, Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars (2004).
Now, for its 25th anniversary, Farscape will have its comics reprinted in special editions. These comics, previously published by BOOM! Studios, expanded the story begun in the show. These editions will be two volumes and cover the full BOOM! Studios Farscape library.

The acclaimed video game, Cult of the Lamb, has the chance to spread its following into comics with a new Kickstarter project involving Oni Press.
BOOM! Studios Brings Back Farscape Comics With Collected Edition Reprints
BOOM! Studios has already announced an anniversary one-shot commemorating the show’s 25th anniversary. However, the new Kickstarter effort is aiming to collect reprints of series like Farscape (2008-2009), Farscape (2009-2011), and the numerous spin-offs involving D’Argo, Scorpius, and Moya’s crew. BOOM! published ten Farscape series between 2008 and 2011. There has been only one other Farscape comic series, Farscape: War Torn, from 2002, but it was published by DC’s WildStorm imprint years before BOOM! Studios began creating works based on the show.
This commemorative campaign will celebrate the legacy of Moya’s crew with the special edition volumes being available in softcover, hardcover, slipcased hardcover, signed slipcased hardcover and “hyper-limited character edition” slipcases. The limited editions will feature John Crichton, Aeryn Sun, Dominar Rygel, Ka D’Argo, Chiana, and Zotoh Zhaan. The collected editions will feature exclusive cover art by Justine Florentino, who has worked on Magic the Gathering and Firefly comics. The BOOM! Direct Reserve campaign will also feature a campaign exclusive cover for Farscape 25th Anniversary Special #1 by Nimit Malavia who has worked on Fables, Firefly, and The Dark Tower.
Farscape’s Return Is Long-Awaited

Farscape was a high concept, cult classic sci-fi epic far ahead of its time. Twenty-five years later, it is still captivating the imaginations of fans new and old. Bringing back our out-of-print comics was an easy decision for the milestone anniversary. And of course, if we’re bringing back our classic Farscape comics, it made sense to tell brand new short stories in the new Anniversary Special. There is something in this campaign for every Farscape fan and we are thrilled to be the ones bringing these stories to fans everywhere.
Farscape’s anniversary issue will include new adventures by Sam Humphries, Francesco Mortarino, Sarah Gailey, and Zac Thompson. This will be the first time in over a decade that fans will have new adventures in the Farscape universe. The Kickstarter campaign will stretch into March and include product reveals and hidden stretch goals throughout the month as milestones are met. With the show being such a success, now is the perfect time to bring back its comics and present new adventures after such fans have undergone such a long stretch of its absence.
Farscape 25th Anniversary Celebration will be available to support on Kickstarter all through March.
