The newly released The Family Plan trailer reveals an early look at Mark Wahlberg’s latest movie. Wahlberg’s association with Apple TV+ was revealed last year, and the movie is set to be a PG-13 holiday season premiere. Alongside Wahlberg, it will star Michelle Monaghan, Zoe Colletti, Van Crosby, Saïd Taghmaoui, Maggie Q, and Ciarán Hinds. The action-comedy movie is set to release on Apple TV+ on December 15.

While Apple TV+ sci-fi shows and movies have been gaining a lot of traction lately, The Family Plan goes in a different direction. The trailer begins with a calm and comforting suburban life as Dan (Wahlberg) settles in with his family. When he is attacked in a grocery store, however, he immediately takes to the streets and returns to life as a reluctant but effective assassin. Everything We Know About The Family Plan
Many of Wahlberg’s best movies are action movies, but The Family Plan also allows him to bring an emotional and loving element to an otherwise typical, efficient assassin. Many other action stars, including John Wick and Bryan Mills, are introduced when their families are attacked directly, but Dan’s adventure will be different. His family will be beside him throughout his adventure.
The trailer revealed many elements of the movie, including the exact nature of Dan’s journey to escape his reemerging past. His children are given ample time to show their personalities, and they both have the opportunity to react to their father’s history and their disgust at their parents’ loving relationships. Their inclusion reveals much about the movie’s family-directed sense of humor.
While the movie is set to be family-friendly, the trailer reveals that the focus is unsurprisingly on Dan and his wife. Dan’s struggle to keep his past secret from his family, before eventually being forced to reveal his true history, could very well prove to be a compelling element. Given the draw of its star, if it connects with audiences, The Family Plan could be a big hit for Apple TV+ over the holiday season.
