Known for its incredible visuals, the series is full of space exploration, coupled with some breathtaking scenes and interwoven storylines. So far, in the series’ four-season-long run, there have been a number of unpredictable moments and surprising twists. Without further ado, here are the 10 scenes fans didn’t see coming from The Expanse.

Anderson Kidnaps Detective Miller

The Expanse: 10 Scenes Even Fans Didn’t See Coming

This is a scene that tells the viewers exactly what Anderson Dawes has at heart. When Detective Miller gets too close to solving Julie’s (an OPA operative) disappearance, Anderson, who cooperated with Miller earlier, sent his goons to kidnap the detective.

Anderson talked about his past with Miller, while threatening him not to come in his way or else he will not live to see the future of the Belt.

The Donnanger Attacked

After escaping a death-like situation, Holden, and the crew found themselves jailed inside Mars’s War Ship, The Donnanger. All of them are interrogated regarding the events that happened on the Scopuli.

And, out of nowhere, some Stealth Tech Ships come out all guns blazing on The Donnanger, in order to destroy it from existence. While James and his friends make it safely outside, they become sure that someone is trying to hide a huge secret.

Bobbie And Her Crew Caught Blindsided

While at Ganymede, Bobbie and her crew are sent for a normal check at the border that separates the UN’s side from Mars’. But, things soon get ugly as Bobbie recognizes some UN workers running towards them and as they cross the border, Bobbie tells her crew to open fire on them.

When she wakes up, she learns that none of her crew survived, and however hard she tries, she can only remember a few moments from that altercation. But as her memory comes back, she remembers that she saw a person/species with a blue body.

Holden And Miller Get Severely Ill

When everyone on the Rocinante, along with Detective Miller gets to know about the Protomolecule, they realize they are trapped in an experiment at Eros. While trying to figure out what is actually happening, Holden and Miller get severely ill, to be exact, both of them develop cancer, which will kill them in hours.

What happens afterward is a frantic scene, as both Miller and Holden try to get back on the ship, before they get killed.

The Investigator’s Appearance

When the Ring comes into existence, Holden starts seeing Detective Miller, who, seemingly, died in the Eros incident. At first, like all of the viewers, Holden thought he was going mad, hallucinating someone who wasn’t present there. He started checking himself for the Protomolecule repeatedly.

But, at long last, Miller started making sense with his talks. Whatever he said about the Protomolecule and the Ring was coming out to be true and that’s when the viewers recognized that it’s actually Detective Miller’s consciousness, leading him and Holden to unknown secrets about an extinct species.

The Tycho Station Coup

In an incredibly frantic scene, Fred Johnson, who had the last remaining samples of the Protomolecule with him, was nearly killed as some of the operatives from the OPA decided to turn on him and seize the power of the station.

While the group was able to steal the sample, they failed to take over the station as Holden and the others defended it. This all felt like Anderson Dawes’ doing as he doesn’t want peace with Earth and Mars, which is something Fred wants.

Amos Is A Best Friend

One of the scenes due to which Amos became a fan favorite is this one. After Prax’s daughter was kidnapped by ProtoGen’s Dr. Lawrence Strickland, Holden and his crew helped him get back to his daughter.

And when Prax found her, he wanted to kill Strickland himself. But, Amos intervened saying that’s what he does. Amos wanted to prevent Prax from becoming like him, a killing machine with no emotions. The viewers didn’t expect someone like Amos to be that understanding.

Amos Kills Sematinmba

While battling cancer, Holden and Detective Miller are trapped inside a Protomolecule-full Eros Station. Meanwhile, Amos, Naomi, Alex, and Miller’s friend Sematinmba get themselves back to the Rocinante and wait for Miller and Holden.

The crew wanted to wait as long as they didn’t make it back but Sematinmba wanted Rocinante to leave without them. When the crew disagreed, he held Naomi at gunpoint and told her to start the ship. And, then, out of nowhere, Amos shot and killed Sematinmba, shocking everyone watching and the crew.

Filip and Marco Kill Ashford

Drummer and Ashford chased Marco Inaros throughout season 4 but they always came up short. So, Ashford decided to go after Marco alone and he caught him in a spaceship. Ashford wounded him and it looked like all was over for Inaros.

But, right at the point, Filip (Marco and Naomi’s son) came out to outnumber Ashford. And then, Filip and Marco threw him out into the open space, resulting in one of the show’s favorite characters’ death.

Marco Launches An Asteroid

Marco Inaros has a lot of hate for Earth and Mars. This means he will be used by the OPA to wage war on the Inners (people who live on Mars and Earth).

Season 4’s finale ended in a shocking scene, as Marco, using Mars’ stolen technology, launched a huge asteroid towards Earth. If this asteroid, indeed, hits Earth, it will surely result in war.
