The DCU’s Teen Titans movie is secretly a major boost to another project thanks to one interesting connection. A DCU Teen Titans movie was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter in March 2024. The Teen Titans have long been a part of recent pop culture, from the animated Teen Titans series and its spin-off Teen Titans Go! to the team’s live-action depiction simply titled Titans.
The popularity of the team is now only set to continue, with the titular characters confirmed for an upcoming DC movie. With the development of the rebooted DC franchise now in full swing, more projects are becoming clearer from James Gunn’s upcoming DCU movie slate. As evident, Teen Titans is now one of these projects with the iconic DC team members coming to the franchise. While this alone is an exciting prospect, one other reported aspect of the Teen Titans movie provides a huge boost to another DCU project.

Who Are The Teen Titans? DCU’s First Justice League Replacement Team Explained
It’s been reported that DC Studios is developing a Teen Titans movie for the DCU, the first replacement team for the DCEU’s Justice League.
Teen Titans’ DCU Update Is A Good Sign For Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow
The other DCU project in question is Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. This project was included as part of Gunn’s first announcement of upcoming DCU projects and has since had a writer confirmed to pen the script. That writer is Ana Nogueira, who was hired in November 2023 to write the script for Supergirl only months before Milly Alcock was cast in the titular role.
Interestingly, the THR report on the upcoming Teen Titans project also claimed that Nogueira would be penning the script for the movie. With Nogueira being tapped to write Teen Titans after working on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, it appears that Gunn and his partner Peter Safran must be happy with the script for the latter. If Nogueira’s script for Supergirl had been underwhelming, it would have been highly unlikely for her to be hired for another project. That said, with Nogueira now also writing the story of Teen Titans, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow receives a welcome, exciting boost.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is one of many DC movies being released by Warner Bros. under the supervision of DC co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow was officially confirmed in January 2023 alongside other DC titles, including Superman: Legacy, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and Swamp Thing.

The DCU’s Teen Titans & Supergirl Link Is Promising For Another Reason
Aside from Nogueira’s involvement providing a positive boost to both Teen Titans’ and Supergirl‘s stories, the link is positive for another reason. Perhaps the biggest criticism of the DCU’s predecessor, the DCEU, was that the franchise was too disconnected. While the DCEU began with a deal of interconnectivity, the firing of Zack Snyder ushered in a fractured franchise that was not consistent in tone, story, style, or characters.
As such, many hoped the DCU would not be plagued by similar problems, instead crafting a connected, lived-in universe. Through Nogueira’s connection between Teen Titans and Supergirl, it seems that the DCU will rectify the continuity issues its past iteration faced. While different writers under one creative mind can work – and will for Gunn’s universe too – Nogueira’s connections between disparate DCU projects like Teen Titans and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow can only benefit the franchise’s continuity, not hinder it.
