The DCeased Trilogy’s Conclusion Teased By Writer Tom Taylor

Writer Tom Taylor teases the conclusion of his DCeased trilogy. DCeased began as a six-part limited series that took the DC Universe in a fresh direction, depicting a zombie outbreak. The story finds heroes, villains, and civilians infected with the Anti-Life Equation and pitted against an invisible foe. Cyborg is at the center of the calamity after being boom tubed back to Earth. He attempts to firewall himself off after being corrupted on Apokolips. He fails. The infection spreads through the internet almost instantaneously.

This is the inciting event that launched several successful follow-ups. Among these are the one-shot DCeased: A Good Day to Die, the three-part limited series DCeased: Unkillables, the anthology series DCeased: Hope at World’s End, and the sequel DCeased: Dead Planet. Even several years after its debut in 2019, DCeased continues to be sought after in its various formats.

Now, it seems a third installment in the main series will conclude the epic DC zombie story. Taylor built suspense by treating his social media followers to a few cryptic messages and visual clues before finally making the announcement on February 25. Check out Taylor’s post below:

Taylor’s announcement for DCeased 3 with the tagline “Every story has an end” makes it clear this will seemingly be the end of the main franchise. It also suggests a deeper purpose for the story with the mention of “This is not just survival. This is more.” At the end of DCeased: Dead Planet, heroes and villains have lost friends and family but are regaining a sense of hope for what the future may bring. Poison Ivy has done her part to keep a piece of the world pure. She created a safe-haven for all beings behind a wall of plants in the center of Gotham City. Constantine tricks friends, steals from heroes, incapacitates allies, and sacrifices himself on the way to a victory for the living. Trigon is toppled. Cyborg is now an instrument for healing, and Green Arrow is proof the Anti-Life Equation can be reversed.

Considering the breadth of that story, it’s hard to imagine what “more” Taylor could be referring to in his mysterious tease. Still, it’s clear from the replies to Taylor’s tweet that readers are curious to see what awaits them in DCeased 3. No date has been set for the release of the conclusion to the saga, but DCeased: Hope At World’s End was released in February in paperback format. Whenever the final installment is released, readers will have their answers at long last.
