The Courtship: Everything To Know About Suitor Daniel Bochicchio

On NBC’s The Courtship, which premieres tomorrow, Daniel Bochicchio is one of the suitors, and it’s time to share some facts about the soon-to-be reality star. The series is a 13-episode dating show in which 16 men from around the world court a woman, Nicole Rémy, according to the customs of early 1800s, Regency-era England. According to NBC, “chivalry is back in this new dating show that puts a classic twist on modern romance.”

Described as The Bachelorette meets BridgertonThe Courtship transports the contestants back in time in a show that forgoes modern dating for the fairytale of traditional courtship. The promo for the show invites viewers to escape to a time of honor, pageantry, and scandal. The show was filmed for about two months last fall at Castle Howard in York, England, which is the same castle featured in the series, Bridgerton.

The cast left behind their cell phones and Internet access to wear Regency-era clothing and take lessons in period-style dancing, horseback riding, archery, and calligraphy. Instead of partying at a club, they attended masquerade balls. Rather than texting, the men crafted hand-written love notes for Nicole. Throughout the show, The Courtship‘s men had to face Nicole’s Court, comprised of her father, Claude, her mother, Claire, her sister, Danie, and her best friend, Tessa. Each week, the suitors attended a farewell ball, during which Nicole eliminated someone by sending him off in a carriage to return to the modern world. Daniel is one of the suitors vying for Nicole’s affection on The Courtship. Here is everything to know about him:

Age, Hometown, & Family

Daniel is 31 years old and he’s from Staten Island, New York. He is 6 feet tall. His family consists of his mother, Nancy, his late father, David, and his brother, David Jr. On his Instagram page, Daniel has posted many photos of his family, indicating how close he is to them. According to an interview with his hometown newspaper, the Staten Island Advance, when it came to his participation in the Bridgerton-style The Courtship, Daniel said that his family was extremely supportive. However, they did think he was “a little crazy at first for taking on a project of that magnitude.”

Education & Career

Daniel majored in business at the College of Staten Island. He is now a real estate agent in New York City, for Douglas Elliman, a firm in Manhattan. Daniel has also worked as a model (for the Wilhelmina agency) for the past eight years. He has a portfolio of photographs on the agency’s website.

How Daniel Was Cast

In the same interview, Daniel said he was approached by someone from casting. He said, “It intrigued me. And it’s a different kind of show from all of the other dating shows and right up my alley and interesting for those pursuing a new adventure.” Daniel sent in his application and photo during the spring and summer of 2021. He participated in Zoom meetings before being cast. Daniel from the Bridgerton-inspired show explained that many people applied. He made the cut and flew to England. They began shooting the show just after Daniel’s arrival, for about two months.

Daniel’s Experience with the Show

During the show, Daniel wanted to stay true to himself. He said, “I was completely myself.” He then added with a smile, “Except for the fact that I wear a waist coat, a dinner jacket, knee high socks and special shoes indicative of the time period.” Daniel shared that the suitors received etiquette training and took classes in calligraphy, communicating with notes, dancing, and archery. He said, “I came with my best foot forward. I had to try to stand out.” Daniel from the Bridgerton-inspired series shared that the contestants did have some downtime, during which they were able to “congregate and relax in an area within the castle.”

Daniel’s Dating Style

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Daniel shared the relationship lessons that he learned from the show, saying, “Just make yourself vulnerable, and try to be less guarded.” Daniel agreed that social media and dating apps do not allow men to be as chivalrous as Regency-era England customs. The Staten Island Advance revealed that he is a direct communicator who only pursues women with whom he can see a real future. When he does, he will make her feel like royalty. As the tagline for the show reads, it was “a journey where swiping is out, and courting is in.” Hopefully, Daniel found his true love with Nicole, and they can live happily after ever.

The Courtship airs Sundays at 8 p.m. EST. on NBC.
