The Color Purple‘s streaming release date has now been revealed. Directed by Blitz Bazawule, The Color Purple is an adaptation of Alice Walker’s 1982 novel of the same name with a story that follows a group of women in early 1900s Georgia who find power in the bonds of sisterhood. After director Steven Spielberg’s acclaimed adaptation in 1985, Bazawule’s new version hit theaters in December of last year, earning strong reviews but ultimately not making a splash at the box office, earning just $64.1 million worldwide.
Now, following The Color Purple‘s poor box office run, Warner Bros. reveals that the film will begin streaming on Max starting February 16. This comes exactly one month after the film’s release on VOD, but before the March 12 physical media release date.
