The fourth season of The Circle concluded with resounding support for the champion, and an array of emotions surrounding the events of the latest season. The emotions drawn out through the navigation of the tricky social media popularity contest initially captures the viewer’s attention, but the things the players say to themselves behind the screen add an even more addicting level of entertainment that makes it all the better to watch.
When the players verbalize the things they don’t say publicly in the Circle Chat, the cast become that much more lovable (or not), and brings some of funniest moments in the season, which is especially true of the latest group of players.
On Realizations That Come Too Late
“Everything is a lie.” — Alyssa.
After Parker was revealed to be behind the face of Paul in episode 3, Alyssa did not hide her disbelief. In that moment, she exasperatedly groaned as a little joke to herself to express what she couldn’t share with the other players in that moment.
Behind the screen, Alyssa had colorfully expressive responses to her experience that made her more relatable as she made the viewers laugh and empathize with her as she processed the events on her journey.
On Keeping One’s Eyes On The Prize
“I guess we’re finding out what John would do for $150,000.” — John.
John decided to reach out to Alyssa for sex advice as his mom, on whom he’d based his entire profile, in episode 6.
Armed with a pillow to hug while he cringed and a comfortable position on his couch, he gave himself a personal pep talk before diving into the conversation that was hilarious and painful for himself and the viewers.
On Overconfidence
“Am I impressed with myself? A little.” — John.
John stood at the stove over a pot of something he was cooking in episode 6, and admitted he was impressed with himself as he stirred his dinner.
The moment was not intended for anyone but himself, which made it all the funnier and more personal as he showed his personality that isn’t available when he’s in
On Psychic Abilities Within The Circle
“Has this person literally been in my apartment? They got the shirt almost exactly right.” — Alex.
Alex made a comment during the portraits game in episode 11 about Trevor’s painting that was hilarious in its genuine dramatic irony. Although the style with which he played the game resulted in some unpopular opinions about The Circle season 4, his time on The Circle was full of depth that came with the contradiction between the way he played the game and the way he acted alone.
Alex felt like he’d been depicted a little too accurately, and his disbelieving outburst made for an incredibly entertaining moment as he ran to find a shirt to hold up that exactly matched the painting.
On Rarefied Air
“I got called a dick by Nikki Glaser. I made it.” — Bru.
After winning the roast competition hosted by Nikki Glaser in episode 6, Bru was absolutely elated his jokes were up to her standard, regardless of how she presented the victory.
An interesting fact about The Circle cast member Bru is that this was not the first time he had some positive interactions with celebrities, but regardless he was so genuinely happy to be recognized by the pillar of roast comedy in that moment, he just happily accepted being name-called.
On Flirting In The Circle
“I know she think it’s cute, her little pocket-sized self” — Eversen.
Eversen made a comment to himself after sending a flirty message aimed at Imani in episode 11 that was a funny little insight on what he was thinking, and how he was a little proud of the last message he’d just sent.
Although Imani, aka Trevor, had no clue what he was thinking in that moment, the audience had a chance to get that insight which made the line much funnier for the viewer.
On Lying While Flirting In The Circle
“I’m not going to say what I actually have on. Heh.” — Yu Ling.
In episode 9, Yu Ling and Nathan also known as Alex got caught up in some Circle flirting. When the question of what she was wearing came up, she made a funny aside about how she was completely going to lie about what she actually had on for the conversation’s sake.
This was an especially relatable moment for a lot of women viewers, which made Yu Ling one of the most likabile players on The Circle season 4 of the circle.
On Enjoying One’s Feminine Side
“It’s, like, fun to talk about girly s— with girls.” — Trevor.
Trevor came into The Circle as Imani, which led to a fair amount of girls chats that had him in on the girl talk, especially so in episode 9. After engaging in the girls chat, he opened up about how he loves this kind of girl talk.
Trevor opening up about his appreciation for his chats with Yu Ling and Rachel, and women in general made for an honest, funny moment that also revealed something true to his character.
On The Wisdom Of Childish Things
“This is why kids play video games, because of stuff like this, honey.” — Frank.
In episode 12, Frank started working on a puzzle, which was one of the funniest activities the Circle players did while living alone.
When he got frustrated with having to organize all of the pieces before even being able to start, he exclaimed that this kind of tedium was why kids these days play video games instead of solving jigsaw puzzles.
On Being Polite
“I want say, ‘Good morning, Circle family. I told y’all bitches.’ But I can’t say that.” — Frank.
When John/Carol’s message was left in the news feed in episode 11, Frank, as well as the rest of the cast were affirmed in their beliefs that Carol was a Catfish all along. Although everyone had their ideas on the matter, nobody spoke up about it which led to Frank saying this absolutely hilarious line.
Frank was unabashedly honest which made him one of the funniest players on The Circle, and this line spoke to the truth and humor he brought to this season.
