More About The Christmas Classic

The Christmas Classic Trailer Promises Sibling Rivalry Shenanigans [EXCLUSIVE]

The Christmas Classic is a story about family, with Elizabeth Bird hoping to accomplish her real estate deal without seeing her relatives and, of course, bumping into them immediately. Elizabeth is roped into having to compete against her sister Lynn Flynn (Amy Smart) in a handful of winter-themed games; if she can, Randy Collins (Ryan Hansen), the manager of the mountain, will sell her the resort. Through working to defeat her sister, Elizabeth is faced with the small-town life she could have led, and begins to question her choices.

Although director Shane Dax Taylor has primarily done action films in the past, he has stated that the setting and characters of The Christmas Classic have personal meaning for him. Taylor would spend his Christmas holidays on the ski slopes in Colorado, and built story moments for The Christmas Classic out of his own experiences with family and time working with ESPN on the Winter X Games. Taylor’s three daughters also co-starred in the film as the children of Amy Smart and Austin Nichols, suggesting that The Christmas Classic was created with the same focus on family behind the scenes as exists in the film itself.
