American Horror Story: 1984 not only dwells heavily on slasher themes but also borrows heavily from popular movies that fans adore in the subgenre. All the plot arcs mirror those in movies such as Friday The 13th and I Know What You Did Last Summer. Like other seasons, it boasts of plenty of accolades.
With only 9 episodes, American Horror Story: 1984 is the shortest season in the horror anthology series. Nevertheless, it still manages to fit in plenty of interesting characters. All of the characters have different traits that would be best examined under the Chinese zodiac system. Here’s where each of them fits.
Montana – Rat
People identifying with the Rat zodiac are extremely extroverted and impulsive. They keep poking and energy tends to suffocate people at times. Montana is loud and sexually liberated. She has an obsession with studying serial killers to the point where she pretends to be a nurse just so she can do her research in secret. Throughout her career, Donna ends up interviewing most of America’s infamous serial killers.
Richard Remirez – Tiger
Tigers in the animal kingdom are fierce and powerful. They can overpower and kill just about any living being. Human beings that fall under the Tiger zodiac are no different. They easily destroy their completion, or in the case of serial killers like Ramirez, their victims.
As a Satanist, Ramirez is able to eliminate just about anyone he wants with ease. He is prolific in his evil deeds. The fact that he is attractive and charming also helps as his victims find themselves warming up to him, not knowing what’s about to come. It takes a long time before anyone puts a stop to him.
Xavier – Rabbit
Those under the Rabbit zodiac stand out because of their elegance. Their self-love is extremely high. They always ensure they get the best out of life, They have a great fashion sense and do whatever they can to live a life of luxury. It’s thus not surprising that Xavier chooses to act in gay porn despite being heterosexual. He does it because it pays well.
The fact that Xavier is a very fashionable young man proves he belongs to the Rabbit zodiac too. He has frizzy, blonde hair and expensive clothes. He enjoys engaging in all forms of luxury and recreation, including taking drugs.
Trevor – Dragon
Dragons are animated people who are at their best when they are in charge. As the Director Of Activities at Camp Redwood. Trevor works hard to make sure things run smoothly, even though everything ends up going south. He also proves his leadership qualities by teaching aerobics and making sure his students grasp everything.
Another common trait found in Dragons is being generally nice but being able to morph into monsters when the stakes are high. Trevor is a cool guy but he has been shown to become rather selfish whenever money is involved.
Margaret – Snake
Snakes are schemers. They are manipulative beings who do whatever it takes to accomplish their goals. Snakes have also mastered the art of fooling those around them.
Initially, Margaret portrays herself as a devout Christian. She prides herself in detecting sins committed by others. She is disgusted whenever someone drinks, takes drugs or has sex. It later emerges that Margaret is a Satanist. She pretends to be a follower of Christ in order to gain the trust of the youthful counselors and kills them.
Benjamin Richter aka Mr. Jingles – Horse
This Chinese zodiac comprises of people who would rather keep moving than stay idle. They are energetic individuals who prefer to be out there doing anything, even if it’s wrong, rather than staying put in one place.
When the janitor and army veteran Benjamin Richter gets framed by Margaret for the murders of the campers, he is sent to Red Meadows Asylum. He eventually gets bored of staying there and escapes. Despite initially being a good person, he decides to go on a killing spree in order to feel alive again.
Bruce – Goat
People born under the Year Of The Goat do things creatively. Whether an individual is good or evil, they will attempt to infuse creativity into their actions.
The sadistic serial killer Bruce has a modus operandi that involves charming people first before killing them. He knows how to pick his words carefully during conversations, hence gaining the admiration of potential victims. Bruce’s killings are only driven by his need to become one of the greater serial killers ever.
Bertie – Monkey
Most Monkeys are naturally social. They find it easy to make friends, probably due to their ability to offer things that others need. As for Bertie, she has an encyclopedic knowledge of Camp Redwood’s history. This is because she previously worked at the camp as a cook. When she hears it’s being reopened, she is more than glad to come back.
Bertie warms up to the teenagers and tells them a few things they need to know. She makes sandwiches for them so that they won’t stay hungry. She is also quick to flirt with Xavier, despite him being much younger.
Chet – Rooster
Individuals who fall under the Year Of The Rooster are known to be extremely confident and talented. Sometimes their confidence leads to an overblown ego.
Chet is a talented athlete who also has the physique to show for it. Unfortunately, his penchant for using recreational drugs gets him disqualified from the Olympics. His disqualification doesn’t eliminate his ego. He still remains extremely cocky, often starting up fights and reminding everyone who he is. Just as a rooster shows off, so does Chet.
Courtney – Dog
Dogs bring love and comfort to those they are with. People identifying with this Chinese zodiac are loyal too and know how to bow down to authority. Consequently, they make the best employees.
As Margaret’s personal assistant, Courtney does everything she asks. He also reports everything he sees to her, including the two bodies he comes across in Redwood. Dogs have the gift of sniffing and discovering things too. Courtney exhibits this trait magnificently as he spots bodies and ghosts before anyone else.
Brooke – Pig
Pigs are generally nice. They are unlikely to harm anyone, unless while defending themselves. They also like helping out whenever they can. That’s why this Zodiac sign boasts of humanitarians and those in careers that seek to improve lives.
This explains why Brooke is interested in studying veterinary medicine. She also goes to Camp Redwood because she intends to participate as a counselor. Despite trying to get revenge on those responsible for her lost life, Brooke has too big of a conscience to do anything bad.
