Fans were shocked when Nam Vo from The Challenge season 37 dropped out of this season and have been wondering why the vet left the competition. Due to medical concerns, Nam exited the game last season. Now, history seems to have repeated itself. Nam has yet to address his departure, but there are several clues that could indicate why he left the show.
The Challenge: Spies, Lies & Allies debuted with an exciting season premiere that saw veteran Aneesa Ferreira and rookie Logan Sampredo winning the first daily challenge. They became the “Agency.” They then decided to send rookies Michele Fitzgerald and Corey Lay “Corey L” into The Lair for elimination against house vote Michaela Bradshaw and Renan Hellemans. Michele and Corey L. were the victorious teams, and as such, they were able to pick new partners if they wanted. Michele was originally partnered with Nam, but host TJ Lavin revealed that Nam had been “deactivated” and would no longer be a part of the competition.
When TJ announced that Nam left the show, he didn’t offer any explanation as to why. However, there are many signs that point to COVID-19 as being the culprit. Early on in the production of season 37, filming was shut down due to COVID-19, and some members of the cast caught the virus. Rookie Berna Canbeldek revealed she caught COVID-19, according to Monsters and Critics, but she later returned to the competition. A spoiler Instagram account, @jaychallenge, claimed that Nam also caught COVID-19 and was “too sick” to compete.
Nam has been promoting the new season of The Challenge, which has many rules for cast members to follow, on Instagram. However, he hasn’t addressed his reasons for leaving the show. Many fans are disappointed that his run on this season was over before it began. After all, last season didn’t go well for Nam either. On Double Agents, Nam was partnered with Olympian Lolo Jones, and their communication and teamwork could not have been worse. Lolo eventually quit the competition and not long after, Nam had to bow out due to debilitating problems with his back. Nam had a string of bad luck last season, and this season was no different.
Nam’s surprising exit from the reality competition hasn’t been explained. Perhaps fans will get more clarity on the reunion at the end of The Challenge season 37. It’s unfortunate that Nam never got a chance to compete this season, especially when he started out with such a promising partner. Hopefully, Nam will get to return next season and his third time will be the charm.
