The Brothers Sun Season 2 Chances Addressed By Star: “It’s Not A Limited Series”

The Brothers Sun star Sam Song Li addresses the possibility of season 2, striking an optimistic note. Consisting of eight episodes, and making its Netflix premiere on January 4, the show hails from American Horror Story co-creator Brad Falchuk and writer Bryon Wu. The project was officially announced in February 2022, telling the story of a family that bands together when a factional war breaks out. The Brothers Sun cast is led by Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh alongside Justin Chien, Li, Joon Lee and Highdee Kuan.

In an interview with Digital Spy, Sam Song Li addressed the possibility of The Brothers Sun season 2. The actor, who plays Bruce Sun, made clear that the Netflix show is intended to run for multiple seasons. Li also expressed excitement about where the story could go next now that the first chapter is over. Check out what Li shared below:

I think everybody on The Brothers Sun team absolutely thinks that there’s more to tell. And luckily, it’s not a limited series so there is potential for future seasons. The first season is a great introductory piece to all of our characters. I really think the fun can start now, because we get to really see how far these characters might go once they’ve had a taste of the other side.

What To Know About The Brothers Sun (& What Reviews Are Saying)

The Brothers Sun Season 2 Chances Addressed By Star: “It’s Not A Limited Series”

The show begins by tracking Bruce Sun (Sam Song Li) right around the time that his normal Californian life is turned upside down due to unimaginable events. The chaos explodes when the head of a powerful Taiwanese triad is shot by an unknown assassin. This leads the eldest son, Charles (Justin Chien), to go to Los Angeles to protect his mother, Eileen (Yeoh), though she is more capable than she initially appears.

It’s the naive younger brother, Bruce, who has been completely kept from the truth up until that point, that truly needs protecting. His blissful ignorance is no longer an option, however, once Taipei’s deadliest societies face off against a new rising faction for dominance, resulting in the family members ultimately having to join forces before it’s too late.

Reviews for The Brothers Sun have been positive. The direction of Kevin Tancharoen and Viet Nguyen, in particular, is praised as they help bring about some very lively and memorable action scenes. Although the blend of comedy and drama proved to be a misstep for some critics, the performances and perspective of the show were lauded nonetheless. Audiences have been similarly complimentary, which is another encouraging sign after Lee’s remarks.
