The Bride of Frankenstein gets an unexpected Franken Berry twist in whimsical but spooky cosplay. Released in 1935, the sequel to James Whale’s Universal horror classic about a mad scientist and his macabre creation unleashed a brand new memorable female creature. Played in brilliant fashion by a wild-haired Elsa Lanchester, the Bride herself became a classic Universal monster, one who continues to fascinate and beguile horror fans to this day.

One horror fan in particular has offered up an interesting and creative tribute to Lanchester’s Bride, but with a twist that pays homage to another, more whimsical horror character: breakfast cereal mascot Franken Berry. Check out the fun cosplay from Taffeta Darling in the space below (via universalmonsteruniverse):

A touch of pink may make the bride a little more fun, but even with a Franken Berry twist, she retains her spookiness and mystery.

The Bride Of Frankenstein Is Long Overdue For A Showcase

Frankenstein’s monster has been revived again and again over movie history, sometimes to memorable effect but more often in disappointing fashion, while the Bride has frustratingly remained largely sidelined. But that all could soon change, as Netflix is currently developing a long-awaited Bride of Frankenstein remake with Maggie Gyllenhaal set to direct. Excitingly, both Christan Bale and Peter Sarsgaard are reportedly joining the movie’s cast, in undisclosed roles. The film is set to go before cameras in early 2024, pending resolution of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

Netflix’s forthcoming swing at bringing back the Bride comes after years of efforts by others to revive the classic character. Notably, Angelina Jolie was at one point tapped to play the Bride when the character was set to return as part of the infamous Dark Universe, but the collapse of the Dark Universe plan sadly left the Bride’s big-screen future up in the air. With Netflix now stepping in, Universal’s great Bride of Frankenstein may finally get a chance to join the likes of Dracula and the Wolf Man by making her own unique mark on modern-day pop culture.
