The Boys Season 4 Title Reveal Confirms A Different Type Of Villain

One title has revealed that The Boys season 4 could be facing a very different kind of villain. To celebrate the beginning of filming for The Boys season 4, show creator Eric Kripke tweeted a photo of the season premiere’s script — and while the title page may not seem like much at first, the title itself contains plenty of hints for the show’s future. Simply titled “Department of Dirty Tricks,” The Boys season 4 episode 1 could see the Amazon Prime hit series tackling the muddy water where the worlds of Supes and politics overlap.

The Boys season 3 was filled with twists and turns — Soldier Boy turned out to be Homelander’s father, Ryan has joined forces with Homelander, and Butcher has begun combating the side effects of Compound V. One of the biggest revelations of the season, however, surrounds Victoria Neuman. On the surface, Neuman is one of the leading anti-Supe activists in charge of the Federal Bureau of Superhuman Affairs; but there’s more to Neuman than meets the eye. Not only is she a Supe herself — one that has killed multiple government officials — she is actually the adopted daughter of Stan Edgar, the former CEO of Vought International. Now, Neuman has positioned herself to become the next Vice President of the United States.

The Boys season 4 containing an episode called “Department of Dirty Tricks” suggests that the political mastermind, Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit), will be the true season 4 villain. After the whirlwind that was The Boys season 3, having Neuman as the main antagonist would certainly be a major change. Even through The Boys season 3, Victoria Neuman has mostly worked in the background, using her political influence to pull the strings from behind the scenes. While The Boys has explored the world of monetized and politicized superheroes in the first three seasons, it focuses more on the consequences and less on the political aspect of characters like Neuman. “Department of Dirty Tricks” points to season 4 taking a further look at Neuman’s political career and exploring a new type of villain. Neuman is far more calculating than other antagonists like Homelander and Solider Boy — and, as the title suggests, she’s certainly not above using dirty tricks in order to secure the vice president position via a less-than-clean campaign.

Will Neuman Be A Bigger Villain In The Boys Season 4?

The Boys Season 4 Title Reveal Confirms A Different Type Of Villain

Neuman is perfectly poised to become an even bigger villain in The Boys season 4. Her political manipulations and dealings with Homelander gained her the position as Robert Singer’s running mate in the upcoming presidential election; if she were to win, there would be little in her way to prevent her from weaponizing her political position to get her way. Landing a spot as the Vice President would give her far more power than she’s ever had before, and there would be little — if anything at all — the Boys could do to stop her. Though the Boys have experience in fighting Supes, getting rid of Victoria Neuman would take a much different tactic than the group has deployed before. In The Boys season 4, it’s likely that Neuman will be rising into her prime as a villain, and taking her out won’t be easily done.

Of course, villains like Homelander and Solider Boy won’t be going anywhere; but Neuman is something entirely different altogether. Though her ascent into villainhood has been slowly brewing over several seasons, it’s her calculated political moves that make her far more terrifying than any old Supe with an out-of-control God complex. As Victoria Neuman strengthens her political power, she is transforming into a villain unlike any other The Boys has ever seen.
