The Boys’ Homelander Shows His Horrific Powers in Electrifying New Cover

Warning! Spoilers for The Boys comic book and television series below

In two new cover arts for The Boys #1, Homelander’s powers are at their most terrifying, as he stands above burned corpses with a menacing look on his face. FAN EXPO revealed two exclusive covers reprinting the first issue of the Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson series, with Homelander taking center stage in the variants. The art from Inhyuk Lee and Francesco Mattina shows the villain in his most terrifying form.

Homelander is the main antagonist in The Boys and one of the most terrifying villains in pop culture. Driven by his desperate need to be loved and admired, the Compound-V created leader of The Seven plays by his own rules, killing off anyone who gets in his way with his incredible Superman-like powers. Homelander has quickly become a fan-favorite character thanks to Antony Starr’s chilling portrayal of the Supe in the live-action The Boys series. Now, fans of the villain see his powers in full effect in a series of two variant covers showcasing what makes Homelander so scary.

This week, FAN EXPO revealed two new variant covers for The Boys #1 that will be exclusively available throughout their conventions. The first variant from Francesco Mattina is one of the most terrifying images of Homelander ever made, as the villain has a Joker-like look on his face as he stands above a pile of skulls and corpses that lead to Vought-America. Homelander smiles as death surrounds him. It’s quite a chilling image.

The second variant cover art for The Boys #1 shows Homelander using his powers. In the Inhyuk Lee cover, Homelander’s eyes glow red as a lightning storm happens behind him. With both his fists clenched, it’s safe to say whoever Homelander is facing is about to feel the full wrath of the Supe’s god-like powers. The image shows that even when he’s not entirely unhinged (like in the Mattina photo), Homelander is still a nightmare opponent for fellow Supes, The Boys, and the entire world.

The covers show off two sides of Homelander that are equally as terrifying, as one shows him totally losing control, while the other features a small taste of what he’s capable of. The villain’s powers, when unleashed, make him one of the deadliest Supes ever. However, he can maintain his popularity with the public because of how well he hides his horrific actions behind his superhero persona. Readers can pick up the Homelander-starring variants for The Boys #1 on the Fan Expo website or at the conventions.
