The Boys: 8 Memes That Perfectly Sum Up The Supes

The Boys: 8 Memes That Perfectly Sum Up The Supes

The Supes on The Boys might run the gamut from those who are members of The Seven to the B-listers who like to get up to interesting extracurricular activities like those depicted in “Herogasm.”

While superheroes generally come with the belief that they are, in fact, heroes who set out to help society, this isn’t necessarily always the case with the superheroes on The Boys. Sometimes they have ulterior motives, and some are less admirable than others. Some memes online, however, perfectly capture the twisted personalities featured on the hit Amazon Prime Video show.

Superman Vs. Homelander

The Boys: 8 Memes That Perfectly Sum Up The Supes

Homelander is The Boys’ warped version of Superman, and he represents how anyone could become drunk with power if they were given too much of it. While Superman is the ideal – a man with morals and a deep desire to save people – it might only take a short time before the power takes over and things turn dark, as noted by this meme from @IceCold8584838 on Twitter.

Having the respect, fear, and admiration of everyone makes it easy to fall into a comfortable place whereby “no” is never an acceptable answer and one’s own selfish desires take over.

More Soldier Boy, Please

A meme featuring the kids from The Simpsons about The Boys.

In this meme by u/TwoSnapsMack on Reddit, the kid characters from the popular show The Simpson are sitting around the television, anxiously awaiting to see more of Soldier Boy, the anticipated character that joined in the third season of the show. A parody of Captain America, fans were familiar with the character and were excited to see how he would be approached on the show.

What’s particularly funny about the meme is that The Boys is not a show that would be appropriate for kids of that age. What’s more, Milhouse crying about Soldier Boy is ironic given that if he were to see him, unlike Captain America, Soldier Boy is no hero and has no moral compass.

Starlight Is Trying

The Boys meme about Billy Butcher and Starlight.

Despite being completely jaded once she entered The Seven and realized what the superheroes and Vought were all about, Starlight continues to try to do the right thing. She has even teamed up with the vigilante group The Boys to try and take down the very organization she was a part of.

However, she faces pushback not only from Vought and the other Supes but also from Billy Butcher, who is supposed to be her ally. He isn’t content with slow-burning payback, according to this meme by u/Cooli_de_framboise on Reddit – he wants them to pay and to take them down now and as violently as possible.

The New American Psycho

A meme comparing Homelander to Patrick Bateman in American Psycho.

Indeed, many of the memes that sum up Homelander from The Boys as a character. One such meme from Redditor u/_homieLander_ compares the character to the lead in the movie American Psycho. That character, of course, was a serial killer. And while Homelander isn’t exactly that, he is also just as troubled and evil.

Indeed, others like Starlight have even called Homelander this name, referencing his narcissism, cruelty, and desire to do only what is in his own best interests. Like Patrick Bateman in American Psycho, Homelander also has an unhealthy obsession with the concept of a mother, and, weirdly, breast milk.

A-Train Pulling A Train

A meme featuring A-Train pulling a train on The Boys.

A-Train might not be as respected as others and was named one of the worst superheroes on The Boys, according to Ranker. His heart problems, the result of years of abuse of Compound V, also created issues for the once fastest man in the world. Nonetheless, seeing him literally pulling a train while running at an incredible speed had fans in awe, according to this meme by u/aayudhghosh on Reddit.

Equipped with a new heart, A-Train has the potential to be what he was once again. However, it’s important he harnesses the abilities for good and doesn’t get caught up in being the best and being worthy as a member of The Seven.

Oh, Ashley

A meme featuring Ashley smiling and clapping on The Boys.

Ashley is the queen of being able to spin every incident, from giving A-Train Blue Hawk’s heart and spinning his murder into a valiant effort to save the Supe from Soldier Boy’s wrath to covering up Homelander encouraging a young woman to jump from a building instead of saving her.

While Ashley clearly has moments of regret and deals with moral ambiguity over the things she does or allows to happen, she always puts on a smiling face for the Supes and for Vought, as can be seen in this meme from Amazon Primeon Facebook. Her top concern is doing her job and doing it well, at all costs. It’s partly out of fear but also a desperate need to succeed.

Like Father, Like Son

Billy Butcher holding a laser eyed Supe baby on The Boys.

Leave it to Billy Butcher to find an experimental Supe baby and use the little one to his advantage to take down enemies, as joked about in this meme by u/Draynior on Reddit. Interestingly, it plays into his relationship with Ryan, the son his wife Becca bore after being assaulted by Homelander.

While Ryan isn’t Billy’s biological son, he promised to protect the young boy for Becca right before she died. This meme shows how Billy might protect a child, using even a baby to his advantage, even though a baby with Compound V running through their veins goes against everything he believes in.

Best Buds

Two images of Homelander from The Bots, one smiling and one with red laser eyes in a meme.

It’s interesting that while Homelander – one of the characters from The Boys who deserves more screen time – is mean and angry with everyone, he seems to have a soft spot for Black Noir, as demonstrated in this meme on Twitter. It could be that Black Noir has always been in his corner. But it could also be that since Black Noir never talks, he never says anything to question Homelander and what he is doing.

It’s later revealed that Black Noir harbors deep trauma after what Soldier Boy did to him and how he treated him decades prior. Nonetheless, Homelander is never as pleasant and open as he is when he is talking to Black Noir. With anyone else, he is happy to laser them at a moment’s notice. But Black Noir is his number-one confidante and probably the only person he would call a friend, which explains why he feels so betrayed that Black Noir ran.
