Robin and Flatline discover that Mila has come to Gotham exclusively to smuggle weapons designed by Batman’s greatest enemies.

The Gotham City Police Department Helps Supervillain Tech Go Overseas

The Biggest Secret Threat To DC’s World is Gotham’s Cops, Not Its Supervillains

During Damian’s brief time away from Gotham, he’d gotten to know a powerful young fighter known as Nika, aka Flatline. Flatline was Lord Death Man’s sidekick who entered the Lazarus Tournament alongside Robin. The two developed a bond during their time on Lazarus Island, but unfortunately, Robin had to get back to Gotham while Flatline secretly began working with Robin’s grandfather Ra’s al Ghul. After some time apart, Flatline visited Robin in Gotham, officially meeting his father, Batman. But Nika’s real reason for coming to Gotham was to rescue her sister, whom Flatline managed to track down to Gotham.

The fact that Flatline’s sister was able to procure weapons confiscated from the GCPD should come as no surprise. Save for a few good cops, Gotham has a notoriously corrupt police force that is more likely to help contribute to crime than stop it. For international criminals, it shouldn’t be hard to find a few officers who are on the take who could grant gunrunners access to evidence storage. While villains like Mister Freeze are obviously to blame for designing these kinds of weapons, Gotham’s police department is endangering people all over the world.

Batman Needs to Come Down Hard on Villain Weaponry

Batman Quiet Contemplation DC

While Batman can only do so much, it’s clear that the Gotham City Police Department can’t be trusted to store supervillain weapons properly. Batman would do a lot more to make sure Mister Freeze or other Gotham villain tech doesn’t get into the wrong hands. Whether that means storing the weapons more securely or dismantling them altogether, the Dark Knight would certainly handle this situation better than the GCPD. Bruce would make sure that innocent people in other parts of the DC Universe never have to be threatened by Batman’s foe’s weapons.

Batman and Robin #8 is available on April 9th from DC Comics.
