Are Penny And Leonard Good Together?
Penny and Leonard were some of TBBT’s best characters. Their relationship and bond with Sheldon Cooper made for some of the funniest parts of the series. And while Penny and Leonard’s cat-and-mouse relationship was entertaining for viewers, most argued if they were good together or not.
Leonard pined after Penny for years. Penny loved Leonard but was never sure if she was actually in love with him or if she was the right fit for him until years down the road. Because of Penny’s hesitance, fans wondered if they were a good match — even after they got married. On the flip side, their differences are what made them a good couple; a couple who learned and grew from each other.
Raj Should Have Ended Up With Someone
Raj had a series of relationships on TBBT, but none of them panned out by the series finale, which surprised fans. Out of all the characters, Raj was one of the most deserving of a relationship.
While some fans were bothered that Raj ended the series single and lonely, others argued it was what was right for his character because he had to learn to be okay with being alone. Raj always relied on his family for money and his friends for companionship. It was very rare for Raj to be happy by himself. Being alone was imperative for growth but some viewers felt bad for him and thought he deserved more.
Was Sheldon Funny Or Was He Just Mean?
Sheldon Cooper had a unique personality that made him hard to get along with. Those who have known him for years understood and loved him, but newcomers needed time to warm up to him.
As viewers, Sheldon was viewed as hilarious and had some of the best quotes in TBBT. But this could also be argued that Sheldon wasn’t quirky, he was just plain old mean. When Sheldon spoke to his friends, he was coming from a place of honesty and transparency because he didn’t always know sarcasm. But this could also be argued that he was condescending and blatantly being mean as a form of getting his way. Even though the series is over, fans are still torn on how Sheldon was as a friend.
Amy Shouldn’t Have Been A Part Of The Nobel Prize
Amy and Sheldon’s relationship timeline was filled with science, love, and friendship. They were working on a Nobel Prize-winning idea during their engagement but when they hit a dead-end, they decided to table it.
But on the day of their wedding, the couple had an epiphany about their study and realized their idea had merit. In the end, the couple won a Nobel in a very fitting ending. However, some fans argued that it should have been Sheldon and Leonard to win a Nobel since their friendship was one of the focuses of the show. This ending would have been even more special for the friend group.
Entertaining But Overrated
As successful as TBBT was, the series has some serious haters. Even loyal fans have jumped on the bandwagon to pick apart the show’s problem areas. It can be argued that the show poked fun at “nerd” culture and focused on stereotypes to get their storylines across.
From Raj’s inability to talk to women to Penny settling for Leonard because of his persistence… Some found these tropes cliche. On the other side of the coin, some fans loved the exposure the show has brought to science and fandoms because it made those interests all the more popular and understandable.
Leonard Shouldn’t Have Dated Priya
Before Leonard and Penny finally settled down, Leonard was in a serious relationship with Raj’s sister Priya. Penny was threatened by Priya because she was both stunning and incredibly smart. She had more to offer Leonard in a relationship than Penny could. Sheldon and co. also loathed their relationship because Priya wasn’t the easiest to get along with.
Knowing this, it was argued whether Leonard should have ended up with Priya instead of Penny. Priya would have given Leonard intellectual conversation and confidence to push himself at work since she was also career-driven. But if Leonard ended up with Priya, how would that affect his bond with Penny and Raj?
Did Penny’s Pregnancy Make Sense For The Show?
Fans were torn by a shocking twist in the series finale: Penny’s pregnancy. After having serious conversations about children and realizing kids weren’t in her future, Penny and Leonard settled on the idea of not having kids and relying on each other instead.
While some loved the idea of Penny and Leonard becoming parents, others found it to be one of the worst character arcs on TBBT. It was rare to watch women on sitcoms say they didn’t want kids, which was respected by like-minded viewers. So when Penny announced she was pregnant, it felt like the writers were doing what they did with every other sitcom. Many argued that the surprise pregnancy didn’t make sense for their endings.
Was Bernadette A Goof Friend Or Was She Just A Bully?
When Bernadette was first introduced to the show, she was bubbly, sweet, and a little dry with her humor. She giggled at everything Howard said and her small details contrasted with Howard enough to make them an intriguing couple.
Over time, Bernadette became colder and wiser when it came to Howard’s jokes and she was no longer the bubbly girlfriend fans were once introduced to. Fans argued that Bernadette wasn’t as innocent as she led on and that she was a bully to the group. Her humor wasn’t sarcastic or dry, she was intentionally being mean. Contrastingly, others argued that Bernadette was just a strong-willed woman who didn’t fold to society’s norms and wasn’t a bully for doing so.
Was Sheldon Spoiled?
One of the ongoing jokes on the show was that Sheldon acted as Leonard and Penny’s child and was incredibly needy. He relied on his friends for everything and wouldn’t have done well living alone.
Viewers loved Sheldon’s dynamic with the group and appreciated how everyone supported Sheldon despite his quirks. At the same time, it was argued that Sheldon was spoiled and didn’t deserve his friends because he wasn’t appreciative enough.
Raj And Howard Should Have Hooked Up
Raj and Howard were some of the more likable characters on TBBT. Before Howard fell in love with Bernadette, he and Raj did everything together. They encouraged one another and were a dynamic duo. They were so close that many new characters assumed they were dating.
Even after Howard married Bernadette, some people wondered why Howard and Raj didn’t end up together. Although both men were straight, Raj did question his sexuality from time to time with Howard before realizing he was straight. They were great as friends but it was argued that they could have been better as a couple.
