“The Beginning Of Something New”: George Lucas’ Protege Promises Ahsoka Is A Fresh Start For Star Wars

Dave Filoni has referred to Ahsoka and the future of Star Wars in a promising way, teasing a brand-new start for the franchise in the live-action Star Wars TV show’s aftermath. As a spin-off series of The Mandalorian, Ahsoka accomplished the incredible feat of both tying into the familiar stories of The Mandalorian-era while also massively widening its scope into a whole new galaxy. The Ahsoka season 1 ending promises to create a rippling effect on the rest of the familiar Star Wars galaxy, one that will no doubt be seen in future titles such as The Mandalorian season 4 – and now, Filoni has all but confirmed this, and even more.

Ahsoka Season 2: Story, Updates, Everything We Know

While it hasn’t been announced, Ahsoka season 2 has a high probability of being made. Here’s everything we know about the project.

In speaking with the Dagobah Dispatch podcast, Filoni teases the future of Star Wars after Ahsoka, which he describes as “the beginning of something new.” He goes on to mention the excitement of what this future holds, as well as his hope that it all gets to be seen. Filoni has spoken about “the future of what’s to come” as well, directly associating all that’s occurred in Ahsoka with the future of Star Wars’ current storytelling run in The Mandalorian-era.

This is now the beginning of something new, so, hopefully it’s part of the excitement and the future of what’s to come.

Ahsoka Has Set Up The Future Of Star Wars

Ahsoka and Sabine look off into the galaxy in the Ahsoka finale.

From introducing a brand-new galaxy to bringing both Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger back home, Ahsoka has prepared the Star Wars galaxy for its next big adventure. These new threats and heroes will no doubt become an important part of what will culminate in Filoni’s upcoming The Mandalorian-era movie, likely another galactic conflict with Thrawn at its center. This is all what Filoni seems to be teasing, whether Ahsoka season 2 happens before the movie or not.

While Ahsoka season 2 has yet to be confirmed, The Mandalorian season 4 offers a promising future for some of the story threads set up in Filoni’s series. Now that Din Djarin and Grogu are working under-the-table for the New Republic’s Carson Teva, it’s very likely their paths will cross with Thrawn himself or his close allies. Each step they take could bring viewers closer to what will culminate in either Ahsoka season 2 or Filoni’s Star Wars movie, which is no doubt why Filoni refers to his series as the promising start of Star Wars’ new beginning.
