The Bear has already been renewed for season 4, and while this is exciting for fans of the TV show, it means that Carmy’s restaurant will face even bigger challenges as the series continues. Carmy’s life has not been easy in the first two seasons of The Bear, with the show being a seemingly endless stream of things going wrong for the protagonist patched together my small moments of genuine friendship and family. Sadly, things don’t seem to be changing for the better anytime soon, as two more seasons of The Bear mean two more seasons of torture for Carmy.

The Bear seasons 3 and 4 are currently in development, with the second half of the critically acclaimed FX TV show now in the works. The Bear season 3 is expected to continue right where The Bear season 2 left off, with Carmy and the gang finally operating their all-new titular restaurant. While season 1 focused on Carmy and friends running The Original Beef of Chicagoland, and season 2 focused on them setting up The Bear, season 3 should show the restaurant operating in full force, but it probably won’t go smoothly based on The Bear‘s Carmy track record.

Things Won’t Be Getting Easier For Him

One of the biggest unknowns in The Bear has to do with whether Carmy will get a happy ending, and the fact that the series has gotten renewed for season 4 already means that this happy ending definitely won’t happen in season 3. The Bear seasons 1 and 2 have been tough ones for Carmy so far, with him dealing with the tragic loss of his brother, coming home to run the restaurant, and dealing with the trauma that has been caused by his family. Although Carmy has pulled through at every moment, things still haven’t gotten better for him.

If the future of The Bear after season 3 was unknown, it would be possible to assume that Carmy’s story could get a happy ending, wrapping up the narrative of the show. However, since The Bear season 4 has already been confirmed, it is unlikely that this will happen. There has to be some kind of story for The Bear to tell in its fourth season, meaning that it will probably have to do with the ending of season 3. The Bear season 3 will probably be another disaster for Carmy and the gang, setting up more future stories.

However, it is entirely possible that The Bear season 3 could end on a high note, finally giving Carmy a break from the constant stream of pain that he has faced in The Bear so far. The Bear season 4 could either maintain Carmy’s positive position in life, or it could see him spiral down from the season 3 high point. Since there is still an entire season of TV before The Bear season 4 releases, it is impossible to know. However, something has to happen in order to warrant the creation of The Bear season 4.

The Bear Season 3’s Ending Could Be Just As Devastating As Season 2’s

It’ll Have To Keep The Momentum Going Strong

Since The Bear season 4 is happening, something big has to happen in The Bear season 3, meaning that its ending could be just as devastating as season 2’s. The Bear season 2 ended with Carmy missing the grand opening of his new restaurant due to him accidentally being locked in the freezer. The thought of Carmy missing the grand opening of all that he had been working for throughout season 2 was sad enough, but he also missed a moment to reconcile with his family, doubling down on the pain that he was feeling.

In order to keep the momentum of The Bear moving forward, season 3 will have to feature as explosive of an ending as season 2. The Bear season 2’s ending was a fantastic yet tragic way to end the season, and not upping the ante even more with season 3 would be a huge mistake. Because of this The Bear season 3 needs to figure out a way to keep the audience invested in Carmy’s character arc throughout a fourth season. Although there are plenty of ways to do this, The Bear season 3 has to find the right way.
