The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes’ Character Fate Change Addressed By Hunger Games Prequel Star

Warning: SPOILERS lie ahead for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes!

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes actor Nick Benson shares his reaction to his character’s fate being changed from the source material. Benson plays Jessup, the District 12 male tribute who is infected with rabies prior to the tenth Hunger Games, and is among the tributes who dies in the arena.

While speaking with ComicBook.com, Benson explains how he reacted to his Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes character’s fate being changed. Unlike the novel, in which Jessup was bitten by a raccoon at the Capital zoo, the movie saw him being infected by being bitten by a bat during the train journey to the Capitol, but it didn’t change the actor’s approach to how he played the character. Read Benson’s response below:

I just rolled with it for the most part because I did notice the change, and I’m like, “Okay, cool. We can work with that.” Because it still keeps the general same arc of the character. I just was like, “Okay, little tweak,” but again, same general arc and not much different other than that. It was just a little clock in my mind.
