The Bachelorette: This Is When Producers Called Tayshia To Replace Clare

The Bachelor Nation fans want to know when producers made the call to get Tayshia Adams to replace Clare Crawley on The Bachelorette season 16. The worst-kept secret on reality TV is that Tayshia is going to replace Clare on The Bachelorette. The show is teasing that this crazy switch-up will happen in episode 4. However, certain reports indicate that Tayshia will only fully assume her role as the lead of The Bachelorette season 16 around episode 5. In any case, all of these events were filmed over the summer and are only being broadcast now, but the fans are struggling to understand the correct timeline of these events.

Some fans pointed out since the beginning of The Bachelorette season 16 that, when taking COVID-19 precautions into consideration, it was rather odd that Tayshia Adams could just be flown in to replace Clare Crawley at the drop of a hat. This conclusion has prompted many fans to believe that Tayshia was already being flown in and quarantined for some time before Clare and the producers actually pulled the plug on their decision for her to leave the show. So, all things considered, the fans want to know when exactly was the point of no return for the producers to decide to bring in an alternate lead for the season.

During an Us Weekly interview with Robert Mills, the ABC executive got very candid about the exact moment when he and other producers could tell that Clare Crawley wouldn’t make it to the end of The Bachelorette season 16, forcing them to immediately call Tayshia Adams and fly her in to start the quarantine process. The network executive explained, “When [Clare] didn’t give out that rose and she just gave it to herself, that was it. That was really it, when we started making the call [to replace her].” The fans watched the situation that Robert Mills is referring to during episode 3. It seems like that particular decision from Clare ultimately sealed her fate on the show, at least from the perspective of the producers who were there.

It should be noted that Clare Crawley has taken to social media in recent weeks to hint at the fact that she was forced to quit The Bachelorette instead of deciding for herself that she should just abandon the process. However, this situation does seem like it was brought upon by all of the parties involved. Clare was clearly not interested in getting to know anyone else aside from Dale. The contestants felt very uneasy about trying to approach a woman who has a set mind on someone else. For the show, this also makes for pretty bad TV, as there is no power struggle between the men fighting for the leading woman.

While it is true that this season of The Bachelorette has only begun, there has been plenty of drama already. In turn, there’s also plenty of drama coming up as the season progresses.

The Bachelorette season 16 airs Tuesdays at 8 pm ET/PT on ABC.
