The Bachelor season 28 leading man Joey Graziadei has 32 women from around the United States and Canada from which to choose, but the large cast proves that the producers might not have Joey’s best interests at heart. Joey, a 28-year-old tennis pro from Collegeville, Pennsylvania, who currently lives in Koloa, Hawaii, made his debut as the runner-up on Charity Lawson’s Bachelorette season. They built a strong relationship, and fell in love with each other.
However, Joey was heartbroken at the end of The Bachelorette season 20 when Charity got engaged to Dotun Olubeko instead of him. Thankfully, things turned around for Joey when he happily accepted the role as the star of The Bachelor season 28. As Joey’s journey begins, here’s why the number of women who were cast for him might prove that the producers don’t really care about his happiness.

The Large Bachelor Season 28 Cast Feels Like A Bachelor In Paradise Audition
Joey’s Bachelor season 28 cast consists of 32 women, tying with Matt James for the largest initial cast ever. However, Matt eventually had five more women added, making his total number of women 37. While giving Joey such a large cast of women might appear to give him a better chance of finding love, the producers possibly could’ve had another motive in mind.
It would be impossible for Joey to make connections with all 32 women, so there’s really no point to having such a large cast other than to find people for the next Bachelor in Paradise season. More and more, it feels like the contestants aren’t joining The Bachelor for the right reasons. Instead, they go on the show in order to become the next Bachelorette or to go to Paradise. A smaller cast would be more realistic and intimate. There are too many people who are clearly not good matches for the lead who are cast just for the chance to join Bachelor in Paradise.
The Bachelor Season 28’s Stunt Casting Of Sisters Is Cringeworthy
The Bachelor season 28 cast includes two sisters, Allison and Lauren Hollinger, from Dover, Delaware. Allison is a 26-year-old realtor, while Lauren is a 28-year-old registered nurse. Bachelor Nation has seen other sets of siblings on the shows, including twins Joey and Justin Young (Rachel Recchia and Gabby Windey’s Bachelorette season), twins Emily and Haley Ferguson (Ben Higgins’ Bachelor season), and twins Samantha and Leona Sepulveda (Bob Guiney’s Bachelor season). None of those cast members were successful in the end with the leads.
This type of Bachelor Nation stunt casting has always been cringeworthy, but the fact that the producers are still doing it to manufacture drama after 27 seasons proves that Joey was probably the last thing on their minds when they cast them. Allison and Lauren might be the loveliest contestants ever, but the fact that they’re sisters will almost certainly create problems for Joey. It could also pit the sisters against each other. It also wouldn’t be hard to imagine the producers casting Allison and Lauren as the first-ever sister leads of The Bachelorette.
Although The Bachelor season 28 cast features 32 women with their own unique personalities, the group is much too large to be taken seriously. Joey will never have enough time to connect with all 32 of them on night one, so there’s no reason for such a large cast. Stunt casting is also unnecessary, as it’s so obvious that the producers are just trying to stir up drama. It would be beautiful if Joey found his wife among these 32 women, but it’s sad to think that the producers probably had other motives in mind when they cast them. They already don’t seem to care enough about Joey, but more about ratings for The Bachelor season 28 and future Bachelor Nation shows.
