The Babysitter: Killer Queen’s Mid-Credits Scene Explained

WARNING: Spoilers for The Babysitter: Killer Queen.

The Babysitter: Killer Queen includes a mid-credits teaser, so what does it mean? McG’s 2020 Netflix sequel takes place after the events depicted in The Babysitter, a film that’s fundamentally about a teenage virgin squaring off against a snarky blood cult. Two years later, the protagonist Cole Johnson is technically alive but not necessarily well, evidenced by the fact that numerous people don’t trust his version of events, including his own parents.

In The Babysitter: Killer Queen, Cole realizes that his parents plan to send him away to an institution. Before he gets shipped off, Cole makes weekend plans with Melanie (Emily Alyn Lind ), who happens to be his love interest from The Babysitter. Meanwhile, transfer student Phoebe (Jenna Ortega) shows up and similarly makes plans for a fun weekend at the beach. Unfortunately, the good times end when several blood-thirsty demons reveal themselves and immediately start killing. The Babysitter: Killer Queen co-stars Robbie Amell, Andrew Bachelor, Bella Thorne, Leslie Bibb, Ken Marino, and a surprise appearance from Samara Weaving as Bee—the titular character from the original movie.

The ending of The Babysitter: Killer Queen is an action-packed finale that brings a lot of elements full-circle. Bee emerges from the water in one of the movie’s best moments. Then, she plays nice with her former friends and watches them gulp down blood, only to grin when they collectively disintegrate into ashes after realizing that their special drinks were tainted. Bee reveals that she actually babysat Phoebe long ago, and was part of the accident that killed the girl’s parents. Hoping for redemption, Bee made a deal with demons so Phoebe could live. In a convenient twist, Bee learned how to appreciate Cole’s innocence after terrorizing him for most of The Babysitter’s ending. The final reveal in the Netflix sequel comes when Bee sacrifices herself, as she is technically the last demon that needs to be defeated. Otherwise, the whole gang would keep coming back. McG teases a third installment during a mid-movie credits sequence that shows Bee’s book of death in relatively good condition. So, what happens next?

The Babysitter: Killer Queen’s Mid-Credits Scene Explained

The book reveal in The Babysitter: Killer Queen shouldn’t be viewed as evidence of Bee’s impending return as the former Big Bad. Instead, McG and his fellow screenwriters will most likely bring back the main group of demons and have them once again square off against Cole and Phoebe, as Lewis and Ortega are viable leads for new franchise installments. Given that Bee had a change of heart, and Weaving will presumably move on to bigger projects, as proven by her breakout roles in Ready or Not and Bill and Ted Face the Music, the character likely won’t play a major role in The Babysitter 3. Still, fans should expect at least a cameo from Weaving, or perhaps just an update as to where Bee could be.

As for Bee’s actual location at the end of The Babysitter: Killer Queen on Netflix, she may be stuck in limbo. In fact, the rest of the demons are presumably there, too. In this cinematic universe, the rules are obviously flimsy, so the screenwriters will probably come up with a clever way to bring characters back while smartly addressing the technicalities of it all. The franchise finds its heart from demons who love being demons, and humans who are still learning to find themselves as individuals. Moving forward, Bee could function as the beating heart of the franchise, as she navigates through hell and back to assist people who clearly need guidance. In that sense, there’s potential for Bee to further evolve in a future installment, perhaps as an angelic figure.
