The Avengers: One Meme That Perfectly Sums Up Each Member

With the recent release of the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer, it’s safe to say that fans are already desperate for the tickets to go on sale. Not only does it give a glimpse of Christian Bale’s take on the villainous Gorr The Butcher, but it also shows Natalie Portman’s Mighty Thor in more depth too. Given that it has been around 9 years since she last appeared, many fans agree that it is great to see that the chemistry between her and Hemsworth still remains, (while a few others are looking forward to seeing her partnership with Valkyrie unfold as well).

Sadly, there’s still a long way to go before it is released in theatres. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t much to do to keep themselves entertained. Thanks to the Internet, the public has come together to keep the fun going on. Through threads, discussion forums, and chats, they have been spreading their love for the Avengers across the cybernetic galaxy through an assortment of memes.

Cap All Day Long

The Avengers: One Meme That Perfectly Sums Up Each Member

One of the founding members of the Avengers, Steve Rogers is nothing if not resilient – sometimes bordering on stubbornness.

This meme (that was posted on KEEPMEME) has had several versions, and it has been appropriated for various contexts, such as academic exams, or social situations that require a lot of patience. The words “I can do this all day” have become an essential part of Captain America as much as his famous shield. Steve uses them as a catchphrase from time to time, especially when he has had enough, but refuses to surrender to his enemies.

Natasha Is A Strong Warrior

Natasha Romanoff is a fierce martial fighter and she is at her best when bits of her personality shine through her action sequences.

Black Widow is one of the few Avengers who relies 100% on her skills, instead of on magical powers or an enhanced suit. As referenced on Game Rant, this meme refers to the fact that she is not suited up like Iron Man, nor has any special powers. In spite of this, she rarely gives up and fights until the end, even at the cost of her life (as her last moments in Endgame show).

Be Like Doctor Strange

Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Stephen Strange is arguably one of the most complex characters to ever enter the MCU.

While he has certainly proven to be one of the most powerful and talented sorcerers in the MCU, there’s no doubt that he is also one of the most reckless too. As this meme by @marvelous_nerd illustrates, Doctor Strange is known for experimenting and testing out new spells; however, there’s always a consequence that comes with it. Whether it is by trying to help the world forget that Peter Parker is Spider-Man (in No Way Home) or because he was trying to save Christine Palmer’s life (in …What If?), Strange has almost destroyed the universe in nearly all his appearances. While he does fix it, there’s no doubt that the universe will be in danger in future MCU projects because of him.

Have You Seen Thanos?

Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers has been one of the major MCU heroes since her debut 2019 movie.

She is a powerful and independent woman able to create and use cosmic energy at will. Danvers can also be extremely confident in herself and in her powers, which some had theorized could take down Thanos in Infinity War (although it ended up not being enough to contain the villain). That is why the number #9 meme on this list perfectly captures her self-assuredness and optimistic vibes.

The Lightning That Falls To The Earth

Thor Odinson is the God of Thunder and he always appears in surprising ways. For instance, in Infinity War, he arrives in Wakanda through a lightning bolt that sends his hammer spiraling against Thanos’ Outriders.

Recalling this, a fan has altered the final scene from Moon Knight‘s fourth episode, inserting him as he emerges in Thor: Ragnarok after regaining his powers – shimmering and lacking an eye. Because of his mighty powers, his arrivals are unpredictable and pretty explosive, just like he is.

The Two Sides Of Hulk

Before becoming the Hulk, Dr. Bruce Banner was just a brilliant Ph.D. researcher specializing in nuclear physics.

Because he is known to turn into Hulk when he gets angry, Banner’s sentence “You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry…” has grown into a source of inspiration for memes such as this one. It is the perfect sum-up of the beloved character’s prevalent features – the violent Hulk side with the academic genius. Funny enough, in Endgame, he managed, in his own words, to “put the brains and the brawn together”.

The Debate Over Wanda Being The Strongest Avenger

A man sitting behind a desk with a banner

Wanda Maximoff has undergone a major character arc over the last few years. From being a lost and confused teenager, who was just coming to grips with her powers, fans have thoroughly enjoyed seeing her develop into the Scarlet Witch, who is one of the most powerful sorcerers in the MCU. In fact, she is powerful that even Elizabeth Olsen believes Wanda is the strongest Avenger in the franchise currently.

Unfortunately, as this popular meme by kisses-and-books12 implies, not everyone is on board with the idea just yet, with many believing that Thor, Doctor Strange, or Captain Marvel could challenge her for the title. It’s probably a debate that will likely come up again in the future, but after she showed an immense amount of skill and power in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, the majority of MCU fans will insist that Wanda is currently “the strongest Avenger” and anyone who disagrees will have a hard time “changing their mind.”

Everyone’s Spider-Senses Are Tingling

In the 1960s Spiderman animated series, the moment when Peter Parker encounters a Spiderman copycat has become history.

A running joke for decades, the scene has been eternalized into several memes and was recently re-enacted by actors Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire on the set of Spiderman: No Way Home, making it into a lab scene from the actual movie. It, of course, stirs some laughs from knowing fans, but it also embodies in a lighthearted manner the quintessential concept of interconnection that prevails within the Spiderverse.

Wakandian Traditions

Black Panther/T’Challa was introduced to the MCU in Captain America: Civil War. He attended the ONU meeting where the Sokovia Accords were approved and where his father was killed during a terrorist attack.

Wakanda was an ancient and advanced fictional country hidden in the depths of the African continent, with a rich history and an even richer culture. Despite being the King, T’Challa is still a humble character who tells Bruce Banner not to bow to him because that is not how they do things in his country. The resulting meme is also symbolic of real-life African royalty traditions, who regard their monarchs pretty much as equal members of the community, only with the duty to guide and protect them.

Being True To Oneself

An image of Iron Man saying I'm Iron Man

Tony Stark has been part of the MCU from the very beginning, and his fans have followed him coming to terms with his identity and grow into a more mature character.

Breaking one of the original rules of the superhero genre, he publically admits to being Iron Man back in Iron Man. Since then, it has been a constant callback to that specific moment when Tony accepted his other identity. This meme compares how, even today, many other superheroes like Superman, Batman, or Spiderman, struggle to maintain their alter egos as a separate part of their lives, while Tony simply does not care anymore, being more concerned with saving the world than with his public persona.
