The 10 Strongest DCEU Characters, According To Ranker

The 10 Strongest DCEU Characters, According To Ranker

The DC Extended Universe will be adding new characters such as Batgirl, Blue Beetle, and the Wonder Twins soon when they star in their respective movies. However, those characters still don’t have the inherent abilities as established superheroes like Wonder Woman, Superman, and Shazam, among others, who have been seen performing great feats of strength and power in the franchise’s decade-long history.

While upcoming movies such as Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash, and more are certain to expand the characters’ powers, Ranker fans have voted on the DCEU heroes and villains they consider the strongest. Given that thousands of users have cast their votes from around the world, the Ranker list best reflects how the average DCEU fan perceives the characters’ power levels.

El Diablo

The 10 Strongest DCEU Characters, According To Ranker

El Diabo was easily the most powerful member of Task Force in Suicide Squad, having proven himself to be a match for Enchantress and her demonic sibling. Moreover, he was the only one with actual powers as opposed to carrying weapons or mutant-like physiology.

El Diablo’s potential was extremely great, as seen when he charred everything in his vicinity when he let his fire-based powers loose. He was basically the heavy-hitter for Task Force X, without whom the team would have had no shot of dealing with supernatural threats.

Enchantress

There are many things that don’t make sense about Suicide Squad, with Amanda Waller’s decision to form a team comprised of humans against a demonic entity like Enchantress being right at the top. Enchantress had the ability to possess people, she was immortal, and could corrupt humans into her own army.

Enchantress’ only weakness was her exposed heart that Amanda Waller used to manipulate her, although Enchantress’ abilities of telekinesis, telepathy, and teleportation allowed her to regain control. Had it not been for her rather simple weakness, Enchantress would have been unstoppable.

Ares

Ares ready to fight in Wonder Woman

The portrayal of Ares is largely seen to be done better in DCEU Wonder Woman films than in the comics, as he came across as a sheer force to be reckoned with. In fact, Ares was so powerful that he was the only character shown to be capable of beating Prince Uxas (who would later become Darkseid).

Ares was empowered by war and his abilities became greater as humans began taking warfare to more disastrous lengths. Ares’ thermokinesis was off the charts and he could lay waste to his surroundings with minimal effort. Ironically, he was so powerful that he ended up killing himself when Wonder Woman projected Ares’ own lightning upon him to spell his doom.

General Zod

Michael Shannon as General Zod in Man of Steel

Zod may have lost to Superman at the end of Man of Steel but he never actually got to experience the full awakening of his powers. Zod was in the yellow sun of Earth for a minimal amount of time, which meant he developed his abilities much later. Even then, Zod went toe-to-toe with Superman in a battle that went into space.

Zod never got around to being able to fly, yet could leap onto buildings with destructive force to challenge Superman. His heat vision was extremely effective, to the point where he absolutely leveled his surroundings. Zod’s military training proved to be a match against Superman’s greater intake of the yellow sun’s rays, as he came close to beating him in combat until Superman’s strength proved to be too much.

Shazam

Shazam strikes a heroic pose outside an abandoned factory in Shazam.

Many still consider Shazam! to be the best DCEU movie yet, with praise directed toward the titular protagonist for being relatable. However, he’s also among the most powerful DCEU characters, possessing the general abilities of Superman along with magic-based skills.

Shazam’s “weakness” is mainly the childlike mind of Billy Batson, who does have the wisdom of Solomon but is relatively naive. Shazam’s invulnerability means only magical offense can harm him, while his heightened speed, strength, and electrical powers put him a class above the rest.

Aquaman

Aquaman standing with his trident in movie.

Aquaman is the only member of the Justice League who can survive underwater, having rescued the team from drowning. He earned his full powers at the end of his self-titled movie, where Aquaman gained the trident to put an end to his half-brother Orm’s threat.

Aquaman’s durability has been shown to be capable of surviving tsunamis and direct hits from the likes of Steppenwolf. His reflexes are underrated for how fast he is, especially underwater where he can create whirlpools and travel across the ocean. He doesn’t have as much experience with it, but Aquaman’s ability to control water and bend it to his will is most certainly a powerful weapon in his arsenal.

The Flash

The Flash preparing to run

Technically, The Flash should be the most powerful character because his incredible speed can do wonders and destroy nearly anything. However, DCEU’s Barry Allen has so far been inexperienced and is reluctant to break his rules to go into supersonic mode.

The time he did cross the barrier showed that he could turn time itself, with The Flash resurrecting the entire world. Among the things fans want to see in The Flash movie is for the protagonist to display more of his powers. For now, his super-speed and healing factor are enough for Ranker voters to place him right near the top.

Wonder Woman

As the God Killer, Wonder Woman has the physiology of the Old Gods and uses weapons like the Lasso of Truth to enhance her abilities. Wonder Woman has been seen taking hits by Superman and Doomsday with no injuries, which goes to show just how durable she is.

Her natural ability to fly has blended well with her agility, as Wonder Woman was capable of defending people from a spray of bullets within seconds. She can channel the powers of other beings onto themselves, best seen when she eliminated Ares this way. Wonder Woman is a master combatant, which makes for a deadly combination with her natural powers.

Doomsday

An image of Doomsday in Batman v Superman

Doomsday appeared to be nigh-invulnerable and it took all three of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman to neutralize him. Doomsday is easily the most durable DCEU character, with absolutely nothing breaking through his exterior to cause any damage.

Doomsday’s bone protrusions had such piercing ability that Superman was killed when he was impaled by them. His regenerative healing factor is his main ability, as nothing could harm him for too long and Doomsday would simply heal himself. It was only when Superman sacrificed himself after Wonder Woman had Doomsday wrapped in the Lasso of Truth and Batman had used Kryptonite that Doomsday was killed.

Superman

The Man of Steel has proven himself to be in a league of his own considering he’s come back from death itself. Superman has a wide array of powers, ranging from his heat vision, ice breath, super speed, super perception, super strength, healing factor, and an indomitable will.

Superman’s greatest feat was when he took on the entire Justice League and made short work of them. The decades he spent under the yellow sun allowed him to overpower Zod and snap his neck, proving he’s stronger than other Kryptonians. His power level is such that the New Gods needed him to be out of the way so they could invade Earth, as Superman was capable of decimating them on his own.
