Sitcoms are full of humor, romance, and friendships, and there are some pairings that fans will never forget. However, male friendships sometimes don’t get the wholesome and raw attention they deserve – and some shows really drive home the power of a strong bromance.
From Friends to Community, there are several popular duos and sweet friendships that definitely need some recognition. Especially when they have provided fans with many memorable gags, including cool handshakes and endless nicknames. Here are just a couple of wholesome friendships that deserve to be celebrated.
Troy & Abed (Community)
Troy and Abed deserve a whole list about them. They have a secret handshake, their own morning show, and they are always endlessly supporting one another. While Troy is Abed’s crutch, Abed can be seen as Troy’s voice of reason.
Their love for each other is so sweet that the others find it nearly disgusting. They are constantly buying each other things and having ‘dates.’ When they are apart, they are always asking about the other’s whereabouts. They are the definition of two peas in a pod and one of the healthiest male friendships on TV. Community deserves some recognition for it.
Darryl & Jim (The Office)
Darryl and Jim are two friends that actually seem to have a relationship outside of work. While The Office isn’t totally known for its wholesome behavior, this is one friendship that has a positive and wholesome take.
They support each other and even try to help one another get further in life with jobs and other opportunities. They’re both funny and quirky, but they definitely have each other’s backs. Fans always wished they had more scenes together.
Chandler & Joey (Friends)
This might be one of the most popular and iconic duos on this list. Friends have a lot of dynamic and strong relationships, but there is nothing quite as wholesome as Joey and Chandler. They are like brothers – while they make fun of each other, one can see that the love they have for one another runs deep.
From awkward hugs, hiding in boxes to having a chicken and a duck, these two aren’t afraid to get a little sappy and real with each other. Their bromance is totally goals.
Hitchcock & Scully (Brooklyn Nine-Nine)
As many fans know, Brooklyn Nine-Nine has many wholesome relationships. However, one that is underrated is Hitchcock and Scully’s. These two are often use for comedy relief, and they are definitely not the smartest or most useful characters. But it has become clear that they would do anything for their other half.
Even though their conversations about their medical issues disgusts many people, it is sort of sweet that they feel comfortable to talk about it with one another. They literally get each other on a level that no one else can understand. That’s a true friendship.
Dylan & Luke (Lovesick)
This British series might be a bit lesser-known, but it’s absolute gold when it comes to humor, friendship, and romance. Luke is kind of an emotionally unavailable bad boy, but he never lets Dylan down. Dylan, on the other hand, is pretty sensitive – and is always a good friend.
These two have a ‘tough’ exterior together, but when push comes to shove, they are super sweet and wholesome – and would fight to the death for one another. Lovesick certainly has its pure moments.
Howard & Raj (The Big Bang Theory)
While Sheldon and Leonard often get praised for their friendship, sometimes fans forget that Howard and Raj had some memorable moments too. These two are often teased as being more than friends, and that’s exactly what a real and wholesome friendship should seem like.
They are not afraid to show each other their vulnerabilities and would do anything to help the other. They may have their issues but they would always work on them and try as much as they can to show endless support. Of all the friends on The Big Bang Theory, these two win out.
Jay & Vincent (Modern Family)
These two are old friends, and they can relate to each other in ways that no one else seems to be able to. It doesn’t matter if they both have their own paths and lives – because they always make time for each other and are always there when it really counts.
Jay even named his son after Vincent. It really refreshing to see an older male friendship as genuine and sweet as this one. These guys are perfect bromance role models from Modern Family.
Ted & Marshall (How I Met Your Mother)
How I Met Your Mother has a trio of guys that are all pretty close, but there’s nothing as solid as Ted and Marshall. They’ve known each other for years, and they really, really get each other.
They don’t even have to speak to get the hint, and these two will cross the ends of the earth for each other. Sometimes, they don’t even have proper boundaries, but at least both Ted and Marshall know that they have someone in their corner – always and forever.
Schmidt & Nick (New Girl)
Not only is this is one of the funniest friendships on TV, but it’s also definitely one of the purest. Schmidt is definitely not afraid to announce his love (both physically and emotionally) to Nick, and while he’s a bit more hesitant, all fans know he loves Schmidt just as much.
They would literally kill for one another – and they’re also not afraid to tell each other how it really is. New Girl is full of wholesome content, but it doesn’t get more genuine or sweet than Schmidt and Nick.
Charles & Jake (Brooklyn Nine-Nine)
It’s nearly impossible to talk about positive male friendships without including Charles and Jake. Charles would definitely bury a body for Jake, and he isn’t exactly secretive when it comes to professing his love for his friend – regardless of how cringy it may be.
Jake isn’t as open, but everyone knows that Charles is the first person he tells everything to – and is the one who knows him best. The trust they have in each other proves why they are great partners in the field and great friends otherwise.
