Ever since Walt Disney Animation Studios created the first-ever hand-drawn film in 1937, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, animated films have remained popular. In fact, the release of feature-length animations has only expanded over time, with studios including Sony Pictures, Pixar, DreamWorks, and more creating their own movies. Because of this, we thought it was time to look at the best animated films around. To do this, we’ll be looking at the 10 highest-rated films on Rotten Tomatoes’ Top 100 Animation Movies list.

This ranking takes multiple factors into account including the Tomatometer Score (a percentage based on the positive and negative reviews of critics) of each film, the number of ratings it has, and the year in which it was released. All of these things combined together make an Adjusted Tomatometer Score, which is what we’ll be using to line up the greatest of animation.

While the first Incredibles earned many positive reviews, the superhero sequel did even better.

Picking up where the 2004 movie left off, Incredibles 2 sees the Incredible family dealing with their powers now that society has started to accept them again. Elastigirl is sent on a new mission to take down the sinister Screenslaver. Meanwhile, Mr. Incredible is required to care for the kids at home — and being that Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack each have a set of problems, it’s going to take all the strength he can summon.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse (97%)

This Spider-Man feature swung onto the big screen in 2018. It sees a Brooklyn teen named Miles dealing with his new spider-like powers after getting bitten by one of the eight-legged creatures. Though he hopes to overcome the evil Kingpin, coming to grips with his new reality proves to be a challenge — especially when he discovers that a group of Spider-People from different dimensions have been transported to his world.

Into the Spider-Verse nabbed Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards.

Toy Story 4 (2019): 97%

Topping off the list as the highest-rated animation of all time is the concluding entry in the Toy Story series.

Toy Story 4 has Bonnie and her toys embarking on a road trip. The trouble comes when Bonnie’s newest creation — a spork with googly eyes named Forky — decides to make an escape for the trash. Though Woody is eager to help the spork accept his place as a toy, the cowboy soon starts to question his own destiny after running back into his former friend, Bo Peep.

The comedy-adventure won the Best Animated Feature award at the most recent Oscars ceremony.

Coco (2017): 97%

Disney’s Coco, inspired by the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead, tells of a boy named Miguel who hopes to one day become a famous musician like his hero Ernesto de la Cruz. This is no easy task, however, due to his family’s strict ban on music. After falling into the Land of the Dead and learning of his secret history, Miguel realizes he might be able to turn his dreams into a reality.

In addition to winning Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards, Coco‘s “Remember Me” won Best Original Song.

Up (2009): 98%

Kicking things off this 2009 Pixar film about an elderly man who sets out for the South American destination of Paradise Falls in order to fulfill the dream he and his wife had. The problem? His relaxing trip turns into a crazy adventure after a young wilderness explorer, talking dog, and energetic bird tag along.

Up won both Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score at the Academy Awards.

 Zootopia (2016): 98%

This 2016 comedy tells of a police officer rabbit who attempts to prove she is worthy of her new job. Doing this, however, requires that she embark on a secret mission through the bustling streets of Zootopia alongside a sly con artist fox.

Zootopia won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, beating out several strong contenders that year including Kubo and the Two Strings and Moana.

Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs (1937): 98%

The most iconic and classic film to make the list is none other than the aforementioned Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Snow White follows a young maiden who is targeted by her cruel queen stepmother because of her beauty. After nearly being murdered, Snow White is sent into hiding, where she finds herself among a group of miner dwarfs. Will she ever get the happy ending she desires?

The man behind the magic, Walt Disney, received an Academy Honorary Award for his innovative work on the musical fantasy.

Inside Out (2015): 98%

Pixar’s Inside Out, which entered theaters in 2015, tells of an 11-year-old Minnesota girl named Riley who must deal with her family’s move to San Francisco after her father scores a new job there. Rather than primarily focusing on the outside world, however, the film centers on the five emotions living inside of Riley’s mind.

Inside Out took the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

Toy Story 2 (1999): 100%

Though all the installments in the Toy Story series are endearing, the second film ranks as one of the best.

Toy Story 2 has Woody getting snatched from his home by a toy collector. While Buzz Lightyear and the others set out to bring him home, Woody starts to reconsider his purpose after meeting other toys that are from the same collection as him.

Paddington 2 (2017): 100%

Though Paddington 2 mixed live-action and animation components, Rotten Tomatoes chose to include it on its animated list for good reason; It was well-made.

The 2017 adventure, based on the Paddington Bear character, has the titular animal attempting to find the perfect birthday gift for his aunt. However, after he is mistakenly pulled into a crime, he must instead direct his efforts toward proving his innocence.
