That ’90s Show Season 2: Fez’s Return Gets Uncertain Update From Wilmer Valderrama

Wilmer Valderrama provides an uncertain update on Fez’s return in That ’90s Show season 2. Serving as a sequel to That ’70s Show, the new Netflix sitcom centers on Leia Forman, Eric and Donna’s teenage daughter, who spends the summer of 1995 with her grandparents, Red and Kitty, in Wisconsin and forms bonds with a new group of friends. The show stars newcomers such as Callie Haverda as Leia and also sees the return of the original That ’70s Show cast, including Wilmer Valderrama as Fez.

During a recent interview with Collider, Valderrama provided an uncertain update on Fez’s return in That ’90s Show season 2. Asked if Fez will make another appearance in season 2 or even season 3, the actor answered “I don’t know… I feel like I did it” and said That ’90s Show is “really the kids’ show.” Read his full response below:

I don’t know… I mean I feel like I did it. And I think it was beautiful, it was a lot of fun, you know. But I think it’s really the kids’ show.

Who Is Returning In That ’90s Show Season 2?

Cast-of-That-'90s-Show

The That ’90s Show cast should remain largely the same for season 2 of the sitcom. Most importantly, Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith are expected to reprise their roles as Kitty and Red, and with Leia emerging as the central character in season 1, Haverda should also return in season 2. However, it’s unclear how much of the original That ’70s Show cast will come back. Fez played a pivotal role as Sherri’s love interest and ran a successful hair salon in season 1, though Ashton Kutcher’s Kelso and Mila Kunis’ Jackie only make cameos. Other expected returns include:

With much of the main cast expected to return, That ’90s Show season 2 should follow Leia’s second summer at Point Place, Wisconsin with her grandparents, with the plot poised to revolve around her dilemma of deciding between Nate and Jay. Alongside another summer of escapades, Kitty and Red should continue offering guidance to Sherri and if Valderrama returns, Fez could assume a stepfather role to Gwen and Nate. Similar to season 1, and its predecessor, That ’90s Show season 2 should continue to focus on friendship, romantic relationships, and leisure time spent in the basement.

That ’70s Show returns set two decades later with That ’90s Show, acting as a sequel but bringing back old cast favorites. Led by Red (Kurtwood Smith) and Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp) Forman, the new cast arrives as the next generation, with the daughter of Eric and Donna, Leia Forman, leading the charge. Spending the summer with her grandparents, Leia makes new friends and forges new bonds in Point Place, Wisconsin. That ’70s Show series regulars make cameos in the show to maintain that sense of familiarity, and the show adopts the conventions of the ’90s as expected.
