That ‘90s Show already has the perfect reunion moment for the original characters by repeating a scene from That ‘70s Show’s series finale. That ‘90s Show, which is set approximately 15 years after That ‘70s Show’s ending, is bringing back the majority of the original characters for guest roles. In addition to short appearances from Eric and Donna as their daughter Leia stays with Red and Kitty for the summer, That ‘90s Show is bringing back Kelso, Jackie, Fez, and Leo. It’s unclear if all returning That ‘70s Show characters will appear in the same episode, but if so, it would be a missed opportunity to not repeat a key scene from the original finale.
After Kelso and Eric left the series early, That ‘70s Show’s finale featured a heartwarming reunion in which the characters engaged in one last Circle together to close out the decade. The Circle was the most iconic gag in the original series, uniting the main characters and showcasing their personalities in a fitting marijuana-smoking activity. As such, the best way to bring them back together in That ‘90s Show is through another Circle in the Forman basement. Not only would it be a perfect nostalgic callback, but That ‘90s Show’s Circle would also prove that despite having families and jobs now, they’re still the same old rebels from That ‘70s Show.
Will That ‘90s Show Bring Back The Circle?
While most of the teens in That ‘90s Show are a few years younger than the main characters of That ‘70s Show were in season 1, it still seems reasonable that the new generation will continue the tradition of having Circles in the Forman basement. That ‘90s Show’s description states that “sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll never dies, it just changes clothes,” teasing Leia Forman and her friends will eventually be lighting a lot of “incense” in Red and Kitty’s Point Place basement. Additionally, since That ‘90s Show is on Netflix, the series won’t be limited by network censorship, meaning The Circle could finally show the characters directly smoking weed.
Even if That ‘90s Show’s teen characters don’t organize a Circle, the returns of the original characters set up future smoking scenes from Kelso, Eric, and Fez. Additionally, That ‘90s Show could reference one of the most iconic That ‘70s Show scenes by having Red and Kitty accidentally get high again. It wouldn’t be That ‘70s Show without The Circle, so if That ‘90s Show is going to integrate any of the original gags, the secretive smoking should be a top priority.
Another Circle Could Secretly Set Up Leo’s Cameo
If That ‘90s Show repeats the scene from That ‘70s Show’s finale where the characters reconvene for The Circle, there will need to be one crucial character substitution. Hyde, the group’s resident stoner, was the leader of The Circles in That ‘70s Show, but since he’s not returning, That ‘90s Show will need a new expert for the adult characters. Thankfully, That ‘90s Show will see the return of Leo (Tommy Chong), who is notable both within the show and in real life for his association with stoner culture. As such, the most fitting way to bring back Leo is for him to lead The Circle for That ‘90s Show’s original characters.
