Thanos’ Infinity Battle With Thor Was Just As Epic As Endgame

Thanos’ Infinity Battle With Thor Was Just As Epic As Endgame

Thor taking on Thanos in Avengers: Endgame was an epic battle between two powerful beings that ultimately ended with the Mad Titan getting snapped from existence. However, the comic that likely inspired the grand final battle in Endgame featured an equally brutal slugfest between the God of Thunder and Thanos, where the hero and villain exchanged massive blows.

Marvel’s Infinity event by Jonathan Hickman, Jerome Opena, Dustin Weaver, Mark Morales, and Justin Ponsor, included one of Thanos’ greatest quests, as he tried to track down his Inhuman son Thane in order to end his bloodline. The comic was a big-time inspiration for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, as Infinity saw the debut of Thanos’ Black Order, featured a similar battle in Wakanda, and ended with an incredible confrontation between the Mad Titan and his forces against the Avengers. In the series’ sixth issue, Thanos and his Black Order take on a group of Avengers including Captain Marvel, Hulk, and Thor – resulting in one of comic’s best fights.

In Infinity #6, Thanos successfully captures his son Thane on Orollan, but before he can kill his offspring, he’s attacked by the Hulk. He delivers a powerful blow knocking the Jade Giant back. As the Black Order is about to kill Hulk, Captain America, Thor and more Avengers arrive on the scene to fight back. What ensues is an incredible battle between good and evil, with Thanos stopping Thor and Captain Marvel at the same time. However, after Hyperion kills Corvus Glaive, the Avengers start to gain the upper hand. Thor strikes Thanos with a massive bolt of lightning and hits him in the face with Mjolnir, telling him one of them will die in the fight.

Thanos’ Infinity Battle With Thor Was Just As Epic As Endgame

Thanos responds by using his immense strength to knock Thor to the ground, breaking his armor into pieces in the process. As he’s about to kill Thor, Thanos is only stopped due to Thane intervening and trapping both his father and Proxima Midnight in an amber construct. The Avengers’ look on in amazement as Thanos has been stopped just before he nearly killed them all.

The battle is quite something as the Avengers nearly lose against Thanos, despite Thor unleashing his full powers on him and other heroes like Captain Marvel and Hyperion also fighting at full strength. Thanos failing to kill his son, Thane, was what led to his downfall as his son trapped him right as he was about to win. Infinity’s battle, like Avengers: Endgame’s final fight is incredibly epic and shows taking down the Mad Titan is close to impossible – even with a fully powered Avengers squad.
