Tetris Effect Adding Classic Multiplayer For Free, Finally Coming To Xbox

The upcoming multiplayer game Tetris Effect: Connected is coming to Xbox and PC on November 10, with the multiplayer expansion coming to other versions of Tetris Effect in 2021. The game is one of several recent Tetris titles that have switched up the traditional gameplay formula. Last year, Nintendo released a battle royale-themed spin-off in the form of Tetris 99. It proved so successful that the game has been updated several times with unique crossover events.

Tetris Effect is already available on PlayStation 4 and other platforms. However, the original game is an entirely singleplayer experience and was initially designed to be played via virtual reality headsets. The new version includes a fast-paced multiplayer component and will be included in the Xbox Game Pass library from launch. Developers at Monstars Inc. and Resonair are also taking advantage of Smart Delivery to give players the chance to upgrade from Xbox One to Xbox Series X/S at no extra cost.

Publisher Enhance has confirmed that Tetris Effect: Connected is coming to Xbox consoles and PC on November 10. This marks the first time the game will be available on Microsoft’s consoles, which includes the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, and it will be available as part of Xbox Game Pass. The new game will include a multiplayer expansion that adds to the 10 singleplayer modes already available. The expansion allows for co-op and competitive play for up to three players with both online and local multiplayer supported. The multiplayer mode will be added to the previous version of Tetris Effect in the Summer of 2021, although no exact date has been given. That means players on PS4 and Oculus Quest will not miss out on the expansion.

Tetris Effect: Connected is not the only high-profile game that is due to release on Xbox Game Pass in the near future. Microsoft recently revealed that several classic LucasArts games will be coming to the service at the end of October. The remastered versions of Day of the Tentacle, Grim Fandango, and Full Throttle will be available from October 29. They will be joined shortly thereafter by Five Night’s at Freddy’s on October 30 and Gears Tactics on November 10, when the Gears of War spin-off comes to consoles for the first time.

Considering that Xbox players have missed out on some of the best Tetris games of the last few years, fans will probably be understandably excited to get their hands on Tetris Effect: Connected. The fact that it will also be available via Xbox Game Pass is good news for subscribers, as it means yet another quality title is being added to the service. Of course, it also ensures that the Xbox Series X/S has a decent launch lineup of games which can be very important to potential customers.

Tetris Effect: Connected is due to release on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on November 10.
