Tekken 7 Season 4: How Tekken 7’s Tier List Has Changed

Tekken 7 Season 4: How Tekken 7’s Tier List Has Changed

With Tekken 7 Season 4’s final character out at last, there’s never been a better time to give a definitive look at how the game’s roster stacks up. The game just underwent another update and received two new characters, so plenty of changes have been made to the game since the end of Season 3.

Constructing a reliable Tekken 7 tier list has proven difficult for many competitors and content creators over the past year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been few (if any) in-person fighting game tournaments for players to attend. A lot of members in the community have been using online tournaments, where the unavoidable interference of netcode delay skews the effectiveness of many characters. So, at the moment, nearly every tier list for Tekken 7 out there is based primarily on online play.

This is how Tekken-based YouTube channels like TheMainManSWE have still managed to rank all the characters (barring the game’s newest fighter, Lidia). Based on his tier list, Tekken 7 season four’s top tiers haven’t changed too much aside from switching places with each other. Season 3’s most broken fighter, Leroy, is now slightly lower in the rankings and has been replaced at the top by Geese Howard. Likewise, characters like Akuma, Paul, and Marduck still remain in the upper echelons of the tier list.

Who Are Tekken 7’s Best Characters?

Likewise, the mid-tiers have mostly stayed in the same spots between Seasons 3 and 4. However, many characters were also added to it. Dragunov is one of the few high-tier characters to receive nerfs that knocked him down the totem pole. Meanwhile, many low tier characters like Lei and Gigas could now be considered higher on Tekken 7‘s tier list. At this level, the characters are definitely not the best in the game, but they are far from unviable and can service any skilled player well.

One way in which Tekken 7 has not improved is that more characters can now just be considered bad. In the past, only Gigas sat on The MainManSWE’s bottom rank. And while Gigas has moved up since then, he was replaced by many others. Characters like Yoshimitu, Katarina, Eddy, and the Bears are all now comfortably bad. Players who use these characters will always have to do a little (or a lot) more work to get the same results as their upper-tier competitors.

The new season also includes the addition of Lydia, who is absent from most rankings. However, she is considered incredibly strong by many fans in the community. At the same time, the new patch changes have made some considerable alterations in these rankings. Once strong characters like Steve and Fahkuram were heavily nerfed, and may not be as strong as they once appeared in Tekken 7 tier lists.
