Teen Wolf Relationships As Taylor Swift Songs

Teen Wolf Relationships As Taylor Swift Songs

Taylor Swift has a talent for writing relatable and heartbreaking songs that fans carry in their hearts years after they’ve been released. Teen Wolf being a teen-based show, it’s no surprise that her songs fit some of the relationships on the show surprisingly well.

This is the collection of Taylor’s songs appropriate for every situation – from Allison and Scott’s tragic teenage love story to Stiles and Lydia’s slow-burn friends-to-lovers romance, to Chris and Melissa’s new beginning.

Chris & Melissa – “Cowboy Like Me”

“Now I’m waiting by the phone / Like I’m sitting in an airport bar / You had some tricks up your sleeve”

Chris Argent and Melissa McCall were a surprise not many fans were thrilled by since the popular ship of the fandom were Melissa and Sherrif Stilinski. But even at first glance, it was obvious that they had chemistry and at the end of the day it made sense. Watching Melissa wait for him to call and then both of them admitting they wanted to call was sweet to watch.

At the end of the day, these characters have been through hell and they deserve to be happy, whoever they find that happiness with.

Aiden & Lydia – “I Wish You Would”

“I wish you knew that / I’d never forget you as long as I’d live / And I wish you were right here, right now”

Aiden and Lydia’s romance might have only lasted a season, but he was one of Lydia’s best love interests, and his character arc left many fans rooting for them. Even though their relationship seemed merely physical at times, they developed feelings for each other. Aiden tried to redeem himself to Lydia for his past mistakes. When he died, he was convinced Lydia never believed he was a good guy.

This song is very in tune for them because Lydia wished him to be there to be able to tell him all the things she never got the chance.

Jackson & Lydia – “Better Man (Taylor’s Version)”

“I know I’m probably better off on my own / Than lovin’ a man who didn’t know / What he had when he had it.”

Often being referred to as the most toxic relationship on the show, Jackson and Lydia certainly didn’t give that impression at first. The popular girl and the lacrosse player seemed like one of those cliches the teen shows so love to portray. But Lydia turned out to be the smartest person on the show and Jackson, well he turned out to be a homicidal lizard.

That aside, their relationship was horrible – Jackson was insecure and Lydia often had to shrink herself to make him feel better, which affected her confidence. It was clear that Lydia cared for Jackson more than he deserved and he didn’t realize what he had until he lost her.

Isaac & Allison – “the 1”

“We never painted by the numbers, baby / But we were making it count”

Even though in the end, it was Scott who turned out to be the man Allison loved, she and Isaac had some meaningful moments throughout the show. It was an unusual relationship, and many fans were uncertain about why it started in the first place, especially because Allison broke up with Scott due to him being a werewolf (which Isaac was as well). They certainly never did the things the way they were supposed to.

There is also a line But we were something, don’t you think so? in the song, which is perfect for them, because their relationship never had the time to be defined, but they were something.

Derek & Braeden – “Renegade”

“You wouldn’t be the first renegade / To need somebody”

Derek always prided himself on not needing anyone, especially after his attempt at creating a pack went awry. But throughout the show, the fans can see him making connections to certain people, despite his unwillingness to do so. The fans get to see him mentor Scott, even though Scott refuses to be a part of his pack, getting close to Erica and even Stiles, but in the later seasons, he came to count on Braeden.

“Renegade” isn’t really Taylor’s song, but she did collaborate on the lyrics, and it fits too well not to use this one.

Stiles & Malia – “August”

“Whispers of “Are you sure?” / “Never have I ever before.”

It was clear from the start of the show that anyone Stiles dated would only hold a part of his heart because a part of it would always belong to a certain strawberry blonde. Their relationship developed quickly, but they still managed to develop trust between them, especially while staying at the Eichen House together.

“‘Cause you weren’t mine to lose, you weren’t mine to lose” is a line that perfectly represents their relationship, because no matter how great Stiles’ attempt at the relationship was, he still loved Lydia throughout it, and in the end, even Malia realized that, prompting Lydia to try and save Stiles in season 6.

Kira & Scott – “Last Kiss”

“I do recall now the smell of the rain / Fresh on the pavement.”

When Scott fell for Kira after Allison’s death, the fans imagined this would be it for the young werewolf. The couple seemed in love and quite serious about their relationship, but as with any supernatural show, there were forces at work neither could have predicted.

“Last Kiss” as a song is perfect for them because despite them never imagining they’d have a last one, theirs left little to be desired. Scott lets Kira go, then follows her at the last minute, stopping her in the pouring rain and saying goodbye with a heartwrenching kiss that left fans with bittersweet feelings.

Scott & Malia – “State Of Grace (Taylor’s Version)”

“We are alone, just you and me / Up in your room and our slates are clean.”

Scott had quite a few walls up towards the latter seasons, which wasn’t surprising for someone who went through what he did. He lost the love of his life and fell in love again, only for that person to leave. But surprisingly in a “never saw it coming” way, Malia crumbled those walls.

Some fans thought this relationship felt rushed, but there were small hints of buildup in the previous seasons. Scott and Malia were both single, and they have both had their hearts broken before, which makes the line “We learn to live with the pain / Mosaic broken hearts” very in character for them. It was surprising watching them realize their feelings for each other, but not any less rewarding and in the end, they were one of the best ships of the sixth season.

Allison & Scott – “Dancing With Our Hands Tied”

“I, I loved you in secret / First sight, yeah, we love without reason.”

Speaking of star-crossed lovers, these two truly qualified for the trope. Allison came from a family that hunted supernatural beings, and of course, she fell in love with a werewolf. Odds were stacked up against them from the beginning and similar to this song, there were just a lot of things keeping them apart. They were forced to keep their relationship a secret due to her family for a while, which corresponds perfectly with the line from the song.

Despite the bad feeling accompanying most of their relationship in one way or another, Scott never lost faith that they were meant to be, going as far as waiting for her even though Allison moved on with Isaac. But in the end, what separated them was something far more permanent – death.

Stiles & Lydia – “Begin Again”

“You pull my chair out and help me in / And you don’t know how nice that is / But I do.”

“Begin Again” is a song about a beginning of a new, better relationship, and after the audience has seen Lydia go from one bad boyfriend to another, her finally realizing that Stiles was the one to treat her right all along was long-anticipated.

Even when Lydia was still dating Jackson, fans could see how much better Stiles was for her. He was the only one who ever seemed to appreciate how smart Lydia was even before she stopped hiding it, and even in the beginning, he would spend hours picking out a perfect present for her and telling her she looked beautiful when she cried, therefore picking up on her insecurity and making sure she felt better about herself.
