Teen Mom’s Farrah Abraham Faces Backlash After Referring to 9/11 as 7-Eleven

Former Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham is facing backlash after she recently referred to 9/11 as 7-eleven in a memorial video she shot with her 10-year-old daughter, Sophia.

Abraham got her start on the hit MTV reality series after being part of the original cast of TLC’s 16 and Pregnant. As a teen, she birthed her daughter, Sophia Laurent Abraham, and then went on to star in many of the Teen Mom spinoffs over the last decade. She returned to the network as part of the Teen Mom OG cast, but was let go after she reportedly became rude toward her family, co-stars, and the MTV crew members. Abraham went on to pursue a career in the adult film industry after she left the popular reality series in October of 2017. She since has gone on to star in a variety of adult films and make media headlines through wardrobe malfunctions and turning down celebrity boxing matches.

However, it’s not her clothing mishaps that have people talking this time around. The reality star appeared to have good intentions when she posted a tribute video with her daughter reflecting on the September 11 tragedy. She documented her trip to New York City’s Freedom Tower with her daughter Sophia, and her tribute video inadvertently offended many after she was heard referring to the tragic day as “7-Eleven” within seconds of the video’s intro. She captioned the post by writing, “In memory of September 11th, I was in 5th grade when this happened & now Sophia being in 5th grade we enjoy this experience.” The rest of the video shows the mother-daughter duo exploring the memorial site where the attacks took place 18 years ago. But her followers were quick to hop in the comments section and let the former Teen Mom OG star know they weren’t feeling her mishap, with some even threatening to unfollow her. Others even called her out for using the word “enjoy,” while some told her to just delete the entire video. Take a look at the video below:

One follower wrote, “Take this down !!! So many mistakes and insensitivity,” while another added, “I dont think ‘enjoying’ the memorial is probably the best terminology. For those of us who lost people in the towers and spent that day in horror waiting for phone calls that never came, it was the opposite of enjoyable. I’m hoping you meant experienced. And to be clear, it happened on SEPTEMBER 11th, not July.” Abraham hasn’t removed the video from her Instagram or YouTube page, but the former MTV personality did address the backlash in a statement to Us Weekly, saying:

“I very much said September 11 and wrote 9/11. And if there was a mistake, I’m human but we all know where my heart is. [I’m] blessed I could share my first visit with my daughter. We very much loved the experience.”

The Teen Mom star appears to never shy away from making controversial media headlines. Her most recent snafu came after she suffered yet another wardrobe malfunction at a European film festival. And after suffering a wardrobe malfunction at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, Abraham had another one most recently at the Venice Film Festival. The adult film star appeared to go commando in Cannes when she wore a dress with a very revealing slit up the side. The slit somehow shifted while she walked the red carpet and the controversial photos landed her in media headlines.

While at the Venice Film Festival, Abraham walked the red carpet alongside A-list actors including Brad Pitt and Liv Tyler at the premiere of their film Ad Astra. While walking the red carpet, Abraham had another yet another fashion faux-pas when the slit in her dress shifted and revealed her most intimate parts that red carpet cameras don’t care to capture. However, Abraham took to Instagram to show off her look and share her reaction about the film. It appears she has her wardrobe malfunctions more intact than her memorial tribute videos, so she might want to just stick to that when making controversial media headlines.
