Briana DeJesus and her lawyers released a statement calling fellow Teen Mom 2 star Kailyn Lowry’s lawsuit against her meritless, and they think the judge will see through it. Kailyn and Briana started off on good terms, but things took a turn for the worst when Briana started dating Kailyn’s ex-husband Javi. The beef started when Kailyn found out Briana would be going on a trip to Universal in Florida with her children, and Javi and his son with Kailyn. She was particularly upset at the fact that she heard they would all be sharing a home, when Briana had told Kailyn they were just friends. The two later got into a series of back and forth on Twitter, both insulting each other, which continued even after Briana and Javi called it quits.
The feud is still going strong, with Kailyn suing Briana for defamation after she allegedly spread lies about her. A while back, Briana took to social media claiming Kailyn was cut from an episode because she refused to discuss her domestic violence arrest. According to Briana, Kailyn broke into her baby daddy, Chris Lopez’s home, and attacked him after he cut her son Lux’s hair without her consent. Kailyn continues to deny any wrongdoing when it comes to Chris and says she has never been arrested for breaking into someone’s home. She claims to have filed the lawsuit in order to protect herself, her brand, and her children. In the meantime, Briana is staying as cool as a cucumber as the lawsuit continues to move forward.
Briana and her legal team are confident the outcome of the case will be in their favor. According to E! News, Briana’s legal team said Kailyn’s case is without merit. They recently filed an Anti-SLAPP motion, asking the judge to dismiss Kailyn’s case entirely. Rather than right a wrong done onto her, Briana’s team claims Kailyn is simply trying to suppress critics from speaking out against her, which they are referring to as a violation of the first amendment. Her attorney, Marc J. Randazza, said in a statement that he thinks this is Kailyn’s way of harassing Briana and get her to stop speaking negatively about her in public, and really has no legal basis.
Aside from the statement released by her lawyer, Briana released her own statement about what she thinks of the case against her. Briana called the lawsuit a poor use of the justice system, and asked the judge to see Kailyn’s true motivation behind filing the lawsuit in the first place. She then got into her family history, explaining how her ancestors moved to the United States in search of freedom. She says suing her for speaking her mind is attacking her first amendment rights and those who came to this country before her in search of that freedom. She ends her statement by claiming she will not back down, and neither will others in her position. In response to Briana’s claims and the statement made by her legal team, Kailyn’s team said they stand by her and look forward to proving their case against Briana.
Kailyn and Briana are both sticking to their stories, and neither one seems willing to step back, even one inch. MTV cameras are likely rolling throughout this whole process and capturing the reactions of both Briana and Kailyn. It will be interesting to see all of this play out on the next season of Teen Mom 2 after finding out who will win the case. That being said, it will also be interesting to see who’s argument the judge deems more believable.
