Tears Of The Kingdom Armor Customization May Have Just Been Confirmed

Tears Of The Kingdom Armor Customization May Have Just Been Confirmed

A new advertisement featuring gameplay footage of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom may have confirmed players will have new armor customization options. Many have speculated over the full extent of Link’s new abilities in Tears of the Kingdom, several of which have already been revealed through a gameplay preview. Now it seems that a glimpse of another new feature in TOTK has been shown as part of the game’s promotional campaign.

Tears of the Kingdom is already known to be introducing a wide range of new mechanics, with perhaps the most notable of these being a crafting system that allows Link to Fuse various objects together and even build vehicles. Meanwhile, it also seems TOTK is fixing some more annoying BOTW features, which will presumably lead to a smoother gameplay experience. Although numerous abilities and features have already been shown to fans, it is doubtful that this will be the full extent of Link’s capabilities in Tears of the Kingdom. There is plenty of room for additional gameplay mechanics, one of which may have just come to light.

Tears Of The Kingdom Could Include Extensive Armor Customization

In the new You Can Do What?! advert for Tears of the Kingdom (hosted on YouTube by Nintendo of America), the shown footage includes a brief shot of Link wearing a Hylian Hood covering his head. Although this may seem inconsequential, the truth of the matter is that previous trailers have also shown Link wearing a Hylian Hood, only with the hood pulled down. This suggests that the way in which Link wears the Hylian Hood is actually adjustable, something that was not possible in BOTW. Moreover, if this is possible for the Hylian Hood, then similar mechanics may also be in place for other articles of clothing, allowing for a significant degree of customization overall.

TOTK Seems To Build Upon BOTW’s Armor Dyeing

Of course, Breath of the Wild does have its own customization options. By visiting the Kochi Dye Shop in Hateno, Link’s armor can be dyed in a variety of colors. However, this is purely cosmetic, and BOTW did not allow any adjustments to how the armor is actually worn. Tears of the Kingdom, on the other hand, appears to allow Link to reposition at least some articles, something which may provide in-game benefits. For example, raising or lowering the Hylian Hood could also raise or lower Link’s temperature. These effects may not be initially obvious, either; BOTW has many hidden armor effects, something which will likely carry over to TOTK.

Although seemingly minor, the discrepancy in Link’s outfit in this new advert could actually point to an interesting mechanic which has so far gone unannounced. Although the true extent of the armor customization options in TOTK is currently unknown, as are any mechanical benefits they may offer, it is likely that at the very least there will be more options than in Breath of the Wild. Overall, it seems that Tears of the Kingdom will include subtle additions as well as more major changes, in order to fully build upon every aspect of its prequel.
