Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Movie’s Most Disappointing Absences Are A Reminder To Watch Million Comedy From 3 Years Ago

Disney+’s The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) movie is still missing three key figures from her Los Angeles shows, but the musicians have another hit film from 2021 that also showcases their talents. While Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour movie on Disney+ has 48 songs on the setlist and comes in at 3 and a half hours, there were still a few songs from her SoFi Stadium shows that were cut from the concert film. The only two songs still missing from The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) are “seven (Interlude)” and “no body, no crime,” the latter of which was performed alongside HAIM.

The evermore track “no body, no crime” was only performed on Taylor Swift’s 2023 concert dates in Seattle, Santa Clara, and Los Angeles when HAIM opened for her, replacing “‘tis the damn season” in The Eras Tour setlist for those shows. As such, the rarity of seeing Taylor Swift and HAIM play their song “no body, no crime” together live made the anticipation for the performance in The Eras Tour movie even greater, but the track was disappointingly cut from each version of the film. However, HAIM starred in a critically acclaimed movie in 2021 that provides a great substitute viewing after their concert film absences.

HAIM May Be Missing From Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Movie, But They’re All Great In Licorice Pizza

HAIM, consisting of sisters Alana, Danielle, and Este Haim, may have achieved their fame from their music careers, but the group also made waves for their roles in Paul Thomas Anderson’s movie Licorice Pizza in 2021. In her acting debut, Alana Haim led Licorice Pizza as Alana Kane, a woman in her mid-20s who forms a close bond with 15-year-old actor Gary Valentine (Cooper Hoffman) in the mid-1970s. The stacked cast of Licorice Pizza also featured her real-life family members Danielle Haim, Este Haim, Moti Haim, and Donna Haim as her character’s sisters and parents.

The entire Haim family got the chance to truly shine in Licorice Pizza, with the singers and their parents having a few scenes together that elevated Alana Kane’s overall story. While Danielle and Este Haim only make brief appearances, the band still gets way more screen time than they do in The Eras Tour film – considering it ultimately amounts to none. Licorice Pizza may not have been a box office hit like Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie, but it does boast an impressive 90% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and was even nominated for Best Picture at the 2022 Oscars.

Licorice Pizza Is Still Missing A Key Part Of HAIM’s Appeal

Surprisingly, given all three Haim sisters appear in the film together, the band doesn’t extensively sing or play music in Licorice Pizza. Though music doesn’t play a major role in the Licorice Pizza characters’ stories given it’s primarily centered around Hollywood, acting, and politics, there was still an opportunity for one of HAIM’s band members to have a bigger music-related sequence. After all, the title of Licorice Pizza is a reference to a record store chain that was popular in Los Angeles during the 1970s and ‘80s.

Taylor Swift’s Restored Speak Now Song In The Eras Tour Movie Missed A Huge Opportunity For Other Cut Songs

A Speak Now-era song that was cut from the theatrical version returns in Disney+’s Eras Tour movie, but missed a chance to restore a different track.

Though HAIM is better known for their music careers, actor Cooper Hoffman is the only major Licorice Pizza cast member who gets a big singing scene in the movie. There’s a brief musical number featured when Alana joins Gary for the filming of his movie Under One Roof, in which he and his fictional siblings sing the film’s theme song. On the other hand, the closest the Haim sisters come to a singing sequence in Licorice Pizza is approximately five seconds when the family sings a prayer for Shabbat dinner.

HAIM’s Bejeweled Music Video Cameo Confirms They Need To Collaborate With Taylor Swift Again

Though the last song that HAIM and Taylor Swift recorded together was the 2020 hit “no body, no crime,” the four musicians did collaborate again later for a music video. Alongside Laura Dern and Jack Antonoff, HAIM appeared in Taylor Swift’s 2022 music video for her Midnights song “Bejeweled.” In a fairytale parody, the Haim sisters appeared as the evil step-sisters to Swift’s Cinderella, with the music video highlighting the entertaining chemistry between all four artists. The positive reception to the music video as well as HAIM and Swift’s former collaboration go to show that it’s time for the musicians to produce another song together.

Sadly, Taylor Swift’s next album, The Tortured Poets Department, hasn’t confirmed any songs that feature HAIM, with the only revealed collaborations being with Post Malone and Florence and the Machine. Considering Swift rarely appears for features on other musicians’ songs, it doesn’t seem likely that their next collaboration will be on a HAIM album, either. Still, with Swift consistently putting out new songs and occasionally bringing in other musicians to feature on her “vault tracks” for her re-recorded albums, it’s possible that HAIM could show up on her upcoming re-recordings of Reputation and Taylor Swift (Debut) after missing out on The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version).
