In Dynamite Comics’ latest crossover series, Tarzan has met his match: zombies. This isn’t an average zombie, however, as Die!Namite Never Dies #1 brings forth the “Z-Rex.” The Ape Man will face the king of the dinosaurs, taking on an undead tyrannosaurus rex.
Previously, Dynamite Comics has released two crossover comics in this initiative, as well as a one-shot. Die!Namite (2020), Die!Namite Lives! (2021), and Die!Namite: Our Bloody Valentine (2021) have all presented what happens when Dynamite’s comic characters find themselves facing off with the undead – or becoming the undead. Now zombies are back in full force for a third series.
On Twitter, series artist Vincenzo Carratù shared a look at the prehistoric foe Tarzan will face. In response, series writer Fred Van Lente provided a special name for this dinosaur: the Z-Rex. An extraordinary foe like this definitely warrants an incredible name, making Z-Rex a fitting moniker. As incredible as that foe is, Carratù promises that even more surprises lie in wait, which fans will be able to see when this Dynamite Comics’ series begins in March.
The newest zombie horror crossover from Dynamite Comics has a lot of crazy adventure coming for fans. There are more worlds in the Dynamite Comics universe for zombies to infect and disrupt than just Earth. While Vampirella and Pantha defeated the zombies of previous Die!Namite stories, this time the threat is coming from Mars, which means John Carter will be joining the fray (or perhaps falling victim to Mars’ latest threat), and Tarzan won’t be spared from danger either. If the sneak peek at Carratù’s art is anything to go by, this will be one hell of an adventure for everyone involved – which means a lot of zombie mayhem and plenty of fun for readers.
The Die!Namite crossovers have previously featured adventures on Mars, as well as zombie gorillas, continuing the legacy of the pulp fiction from which these properties originate. In a world of shared-universe media franchises, Dynamite Comics is embracing the craziness of combining Martian adventurers, vampiric heroes, and the Lord of the Jungle, only to face them with zombie dinosaurs. The minds at Dynamite Comics just don’t know when to say die – and nor do their zombie creations. There seems to be a lot more craziness coming, with a zombie dinosaur just being the tip of the iceberg. Fans can see their favorite Dynamite Comics characters battling zombies, and see Tarzan take on the Z-Rex, when Die!Namite Never Dies #1 releases March 2.
