Krypton star Cameron Cuffe says Syfy’s Superman prequel series exists in a “fully realized DC Universe,” following the references to the Justice League and Green Lantern in last night’s episode.
In six episodes, Krypton has doubled down on the show’s connection to the Man of Steel and his legacy, by including his cape, the Fortress of Solitude, and other key aspects of the character. The series has already introduced three of the most notable members of Superman’s rogues gallery: General Zod, Brainiac, and Doomsday. It wasn’t until the most recent episode, “Transformation”, that Krypton stepped outside the world of Superman to acknowledge the other heroes of the DC Universe.

Cameron Cuffe, who playsSuperman’s grandfather Seg-El on Krypton, responded on Twitter to a Screen Rant article on the Green Lantern and Justice League references by noting that the series “takes place in a fully realized DC Universe.” Cuffe adds that the Green Lantern Corps, Justice League, and the Omega Man are all “very real in the world of our story.“
Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos) explains in the episode that he came to Earth to save Krypton with the intention of making the Justice League notice him. Green Lantern was referenced when Adam says, “I can’t fly, have no super strength, no power ring.” DC fans know that power rings are what give the Green Lanterns their powers.
It was previously stated by showrunner Cameron Welsh that the Green Lantern Corps would be a “natural fit” for the series. DC Entertainment Vice President Dan Evans said that the Omega Man could appear before the introduction of the Green Lanterns.
Confirmation that Krypton incorporates so much more of the DC Universe than just Superman lore opens the door for more characters, teams, and locations to eventually be introduced. The CW’s Superman prequel series, Smallville, didn’t begin exploring other characters until the debut of The Flash in season 4.
It was revealed at SDCC 2017 that Hawkgirl would appear on Krypton at some point. Hawkman’s homeworld has been mentioned as a planet that the series may explore at a later date. There’s no telling who else could referenced – or seen – in the coming episodes, though cosmic characters like the Green Lanterns and the Omega Man seem more likely than most. The time travel elements of the series also make it possible for Krypton to dive into characters from modern-day Earth.
