Susan Sarandon Confirms Blue Beetle Movie Filming Wrap With New Image

The Blue Beetle movie looks to be moving along smoothly as Susan Sarandon confirms she has wrapped filming on the project. Sarandon is making her DC Extended Universe debut in the film as Victoria Kord, though further details on the character are currently unknown outside of her serving as an antagonist in the movie. The Oscar winner took over the role from Sharon Stone, who was previously in talks for the part but fell out.

Cobra Kai star Xolo Maridueña is leading the cast of Blue Beetle as Jaime Reyes, the El Paso teenager who turns in to the titular hero after finding an alien scarab that grants him a superpowered exosuit. Alongside Maridueña and Sarandon, the cast for the film includes Bruna Marquezine, Belissa Escobedo, George Lopez, Adrianna Barraza, Elpidia Carrillo, Damián Alcázar and Raoul Trujillo. Charm City Kings‘ Angel Manuel Soto is at the helm for Blue Beetle, which officially began filming in May and now audiences are getting an exciting update on the movie’s production.

Just over a month after kicking off shooting, Susan Sarandon took to Instagram to reveal she has wrapped filming on the Blue Beetle movie. The star announced the news with an image of the San Juan, Puerto Rico skyline over the ocean, stating “And that’s a wrap on Victoria Kord.” Check out Sarandon’s announcement below:

Audiences have been anxiously awaiting further details for the Blue Beetle movie plot and Sarandon’s character in the film, namely with her last name being Kord. Fans of Blue Beetle will recall that prior to Jaime Reyes donning the suit and DC Comics acquiring the character, Ted Kord was the Blue Beetle at Charlton Comics from 1966 to the mid ’00s, where he would be killed in the Infinite Crisis storyline. With Sarandon starring as Victoria Kord, many took to speculating on whether Ted would appear in the film, with rumors subsequently swirling of Jason Sudeikis being eyed for the part, though this has since been debunked.

With Sarandon confirming that she has wrapped filming on the Blue Beetle movie in just a month after production first kicked off, it’s sure to raise questions of how big her role is in the film as well as how close to the end of shooting the movie is. Given most DCEU projects generally take three months to film, it seems likely production on Blue Beetle will continue for at least another month before officially coming to a close, potentially wrapping in time for the one-year countdown to its release. Audiences will have to keep their eyes peeled for further Blue Beetle movie reveals leading up to its August 18, 2023 theatrical release.
