Supergirl Is A Ruthless Warrior Even When Drunk

Supergirl Is A Ruthless Warrior Even When Drunk

Warning: includes a preview for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #1!

In Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #1, Kara Zor-El fends off against a ruthless alien, defeating him whilst completely drunk. Celebrating her twenty-first birthday in an outer space bar, Kara drinks her anxieties away. Whilst Supergirl’s having a drink, an aggressive alien man abuses her new friend. But before he is able to leave, Kara halts him in his tracks and gives him a good drunken talking too. Then Supergirl proceeds to retrieve the stolen sword as the alien fails to land any impactful hits on her.

Supergirl is a great hero and she’s proved herself time and time again. In Future State, Supergirl surpasses everything that Superman had ever achieved. She creates a legacy of hope and tranquillity, passing down her mantle to the citizens of her moon colony. In the future, Superman’s legacy is left with Jonathan, who isn’t half the hero that Supergirl is. This was further emphasized in the most recent issue of Action Comics where Supergirl showcases far more Superman-like qualities that Jonathan has.

In Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #1 by Tom King, Belquis Evely, and Matheus Lopes, Supergirl proves she doesn’t even have to be sober to take down criminals. As seen in the previews, Supergirl completely outmatches the issue’s assailant, even under a red sun. Not even using any of her powers, Kara playfully allows the so-called warrior to attack her, but she warns him that “it’s probably going to hurt… you.” On a separate note, Supergirl’s line echoes Bane’s line on the aeroplane in The Dark Knight Rises. Normally, it’s incredibly hard to get Kryptonians drunk, especially under Earth’s yellow sun. However, being under a red sun not only weakens their powers but gives them the ability to get a little tipsy. Also, it must be noted that being drunk tends to hinder people’s control of their actions. But for Supergirl, she’s still a relentless warrior that can take down pretty much anyone. Obviously, if she were to try and take down someone like Darkseid whilst drunk, she could run into some problems.

Ultimately, Supergirl has proven herself many times that she is a worthy hero and warrior. This new Supergirl series is set to begin Kara Zor-El‘s path in a similar direction to where she was in Future State, having left Earth and moved to space. Although she hasn’t moved away yet, Supergirl’s long trip to outer space is definitely one step closer to her potential destiny. Now, DC has the ability to retool Supergirl’s destiny as Future State isn’t set in stone, alternate futures are bound to occur with Infinite Frontier‘s changes. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #1 releases on June 15 in comic book stores and on digital platforms.
