Supergirl & Green Arrow Team Up in New Image

The CW will soon be debuting its slate of DC Comics-based television series, including returning shows Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow – as well as Supergirl, which will air its second season on the network after the program debuted on CBS last fall. Thanks to this shift, Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) and her friends in National City are more easily able to crossover with their fellow CW superhero series, and the network has already announced two such crossovers. There will be a major four-show event, then Supergirl and The Flash will team up for a two-episode musical crossover later in their respective seasons.

Although production on all four DC Comics series began in the middle of the summer, little is known about the major crossover event aside from brief teases provided by the showrunners and producers of the programs. Still, we know production has begun on the episodes involved in the crossover since Arrow star Stephen Amell has been offering photos from the set on his social media accounts. In the newest image, Amell’s Oliver Queen appears alongside the Girl of Steel.

Amell released the photo on Twitter, which depicts the Green Arrow and Supergirl on a rooftop. Of course, it’s unclear whether the building is located in Kara’s home of National City or Ollie’s Star City since both shows now film in Vancouver, Canada. Take a look:

Additionally, fans will get to see the heroes of The CW’s four DC Comics series team up soon enough for a second round of “Superhero Fight Club.” As teased by the official Arrow Twitter, “Superhero Fight Club 2.0” will arrive tomorrow:

As the star of The CW’s flagship DC Comics superhero series, Amell is one of the most vocal cast members from all four shows, often sharing photos and teasers on his social media sites. Earlier this year, he posted a photo that teased Green Arrow, Supergirl, The Flash, White Canary (Caity Lotz), and The Atom (Brandon Routh) would all be together. Considering when the photo was posted, it’s likely the cast members were united to film “Superhero Fight Club 2.0” rather than a crossover taking place within the continuity of the shows.

As for the four-show crossover event, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow producer Marc Guggenheim originally teased that the storyline would involve Supergirl travelling to the other three series, while Arrowverse architect Greg Berlanti revealed the crossover would have one unifying threat. However, more recent comments from Berlanti indicated that the crossover storyline will largely begin on The Flash – after certain characters have appeared on Supergirl.

So, Amell’s photo of himself and Benoist on set may be from the Supergirl episode of the four-show crossover. But, it remains to be seen how the crossover event comes together and it may be some time before fans see more from the episodes than teaser photos such as this one. Still, with the premiere dates of Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow right around the corner – not to mention “Superhero Fight Club 2.0” – fans will have plenty to tide them over until the crossover event airs later this fall.
