Carl Radke from Summer House credits Captain Lee Rosbach from Below Deck for helping him pursue a relationship with his costar Lindsay Hubbard. For years, fans of the Bravo series have wondered whether or not new couple Carl and Lindsay would ever take their friendship to a romantic level. During Summer House season 4, the pair did give their romantic relationship a try; however, at the time, Carl wasn’t interested in committing to a long-term relationship.
The couple went their separate ways but remained best friends, with Carl even moving into Lindsays apartment building. The two developed an even closer friendship after Carl became Lindsay’s neighbor. However, their friendship never went further as Lindsay began dating Stephen ‘Stravy’ Traversie, who she dated for a year. It wasn’t until Carl decided to live a sober life following his brother’s death to pursue real relationships and not one-night stands.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen this week, alongside his girlfriend and costar Lindsay, Carl revealed that he credits Captain Lee for encouraging him to date the 35-year-old. The revelation came about after Andy asked the couple about who they first disclosed their relationship to. “I actually talked to Captain Lee a little bit early on,” Carl revealed, an initial surprise to Andy and the audience. “After my brother passed… We share kind of a similar story. My brother and his son passed from addiction. He reached out to me last year during a really hard time, living that out publicly was very challenging for me.” Carl’s older brother Curtis passed away while he was filming Summer House season 5 after a long battle with mental illness and addiction.
As for Captain Lee, his son Josh passed away at 42-years-old from an accidental drug overdose in July 2019 after battling addiction for 20 years. Carl even referred to Captain Lee as a father figure in his life since the passing of his older brother. The reality star said that it was nice having someone “from the Bravo family to reach out” to him following such as devasting time in his life. For more than a year now, Lee has been someone who Carl would check in on often, and as his one-year of sobriety anniversary was coming up, he decided to tell Lee about his new romantic relationship with Lindsay. “I think he laid the groundwork for me to really feel confident with wanting to move forward with Lindsay,” he said. As for Lindsay, she is just as happy as everyone else is about her relationship with Carl as Lindsay shared a tribute to Carl on Valentine’s Day, expressing her gratitude for him and their relationship.
Ever since Carl lost his brother, he has found a sense of comfort through his friendship with Captain lee. Even though tragedy brought them together, Carl and Lee now have someone who understands what they are going through. Lee has been a part of Carl’s support system from his brother’s death to his budding romance with Lindsay.
