Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League Reportedly Delayed To 2023

The delay of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was officially confirmed by developer Rocksteady on March 23, 2022. The original reveal of SS:KTJL’s delay is described in the article below:

Rocksteady’s upcoming DC title Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League has reportedly been delayed until 2023. This spin-off to Rocksteady’s critically-acclaimed Batman: Arkham series was first announced during 2020’s DC Fandome livestream event and will put players in control of the mad-cap antiheroes of the Suicide Squad, tasked with murdering the Justice League after they are taken over by longtime Superman foe Brainiac.

More information about Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League was revealed during The Game Awards 2021 livestream in December. The event debuted another trailer which pitted the titular Suicide Squad against The Flash and showcased each member’s unique skill sets. These abilities include King Shark mauling his enemies just like he did in the recent film, The Suicide Squad. Also showcased was Captain Boomerang’s surprising agility, fitting for his origins as an antagonist to the Flash. The trailer also featured Harley Quinn and Deadshot’s use of Suicide Squad‘s over-the-shoulder shooting mechanics. More eagle-eyed fans have also noticed some clever Easter Eggs hiding within the latest Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League trailer, such as the team’s prison uniforms corresponding to each member’s respective comic book debut.

Bloomberg reporter and gaming journalist Jason Schreier just shared an article announcing that Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League has been delayed until at least next year, as revealed by people close to the development team. The official reason for this is still unclear at this time, but fans replying to Schreier’s Twitter post suspect it might have been done to avoid competition with Gotham Knights, another WB Games-produced DC game that is set to release sometime later this year.

This is only the latest instance of a high-profile WB Games-published title being delayed over the past couple of years, with most of these being the result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic causing major complications in game development and distribution. The Harry Potter-based Hogwarts Legacy, which was confirmed to be launching this year alongside the aforementioned Gotham Knights, was held back from its originally planned 2021 release date to allow for more development time. Likewise, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was hit with multiple delays following its initial announcement in 2019 due to production issues and employee crunch at developer Traveler’s Tales.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is promising to provide comic book fans a unique premise in taking down the famous heroes of the DC Universe as noted outlaws like Harley Quinn and Deadshot, not to mention Rocksteady’s proven track record with the Batman: Arkham games. Hence, it might come as a disappointment that Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is being held back for at least a year, but it looks like players are indeed going to have to wait until 2023 to take down the likes of Superman and The Flash as the devious Task Force X.
