The multi-award-winning HBO series Succession left fans in shock and with plenty of questions about what will happen going forward. With the series already renewed for a fourth season, the saga with Roy family and their media empire Waystar Royco will continue. But what does the future hold?
With Logan seemingly planning to sell the company and the kids completely shut out from being part of the decision-making, things aren’t looking great for Kendall, Shiv, Roman, and Connor. But they could be looking mighty sweet for Tom and Greg.
Did Tom Betray Shiv?
One of the biggest questions is whether Tom betrayed Shiv, and most fans believe that the answer is a resounding yes. Not only did he sit down with Greg and offer him a chance to make a “deal with the devil” and work on a plan with him so they could be “at the bottom of the top,” but Logan’s thankful pat on the shoulder when Tom walked into the room said it all.
It’s unclear whether Shiv realizes what her husband might have done, as she was still in shock when he went to console her. But fans are at the edges of their seats waiting to find out.
What Plans Does Lukas Actually Have For Waystar Royco?
Alexander Skarsgard joined the cast in season three as Lukas Mattson, one of the best characters introduced after season 1 of Succession. He presented Logan with an enticing deal and argument that might have been too good for him to pass up, especially since he had no faith that any of his children might be able to take over.
If the deal goes through, what plans does he have for the company and the people who currently work for it? Will he tear apart old news division, shift resources, and get rid of everyone on staff?
Will Logan Sell The Company?
Logan had seemingly decided to sell the company, striking while the iron was hot for a deal and getting out while he could, knowing that the ship might be sinking otherwise. Logan doesn’t often second-guess himself and his instincts had gotten him that far. Nonetheless, fans want to know if something might happen to change his mind.
If Logan sells, what will the outcome be for both him and his children? What direction will Waystar Royco go in, and will the kids have any say in what happens?
What Will The Kids Do Now?
Now that the kids have no power in the company and might no longer even have roles, what will they do next? Will Kendall work with Stewie to try and come up with a better deal that sees someone he can work with taking over, putting Kendall in a better position?
If the end of an era has occurred for the kids when it comes to the family business, what will they all do and will they have to adjust to a different way of life? They might still have endless monetary resources, but without any clear direction, it’s possible that all of them will fall back into bad habits.
Will Tom Have More Power Than Shiv?
Since the beginning, Tom has been a social and professional climber, trying his best to make something of himself. It has always been clear that he does not like Shiv having more power than him and being in a higher position than him. He was even willing to go to jail to gain favor with Logan, a move Logan told him he would not forget.
Tom might have said some strange things on Succession, but if he made a deal with Logan to maintain a stronger position in the company and even the family, Tom could finally gain the power he has been seeking.
What’s Happening With Marcia?
There wasn’t much said or shown about Marcia in season 3, only that she inked herself a sweet deal to stay married to Logan despite knowing he cheated on and embarrassed her. They seem together for appearances only.
She did have some stake in the company since they are married, and it’s unclear what her thoughts are about Logan selling. It’s possible she could have a bigger role in season 4 and shake things up.
Will Tom And Shiv Remain Married?
Tom and Shiv have had a rocky marriage right from the beginning, with Shiv revealing to him she wanted an open marriage on their wedding night (and her unfaithfulness is the worst thing Shiv has done to Tom in Succession). From there, she made drunken comments about him loving her even though he knew she didn’t love him back, later shrugging them off as a joke.
The question about their future was always up in the air, but if Tom betrayed Shiv when she trusted him, it’s unclear if she will stay with him for revenge or cut ties completely.
Is Greg Finally Coming Into His Own?
Greg was always a fan favorite and one of the most likable characters on Succession. But he was a pushover, never feeling as though he truly belonged in the family and doing what he could to prove himself. Unfortunately, he always had trouble standing up for himself.
It seemed following the upsetting words Kendall spoke to him at his birthday party, implying Greg was feeding off the family, that Greg had changed his tune. But he was going in a bad direction, leading on two women at once and acting unlike himself. How Greg ends up will be a key question in season 4.
Is Logan Really Trying To Have A Baby?
There was some speculation by Connor that Logan might be trying to have a baby with his assistant Kerry, whom all the kids are convinced he has been sleeping with. Fans want to know if this is true, and if so, how that might impact the story going forward.
Not only would that give Kerry a stake in the company as the mother of his child, but she always seemed to be going against the kids and their wishes. She could prove to be another formidable enemy to the Roy children.
Will Connor Get Married?
Connor started dating Willa when she was an escort, and effectively paid her to stay with him. He hoped she would eventually fall in love with him and even proposed marriage to her at his siblings’ mother’s wedding in Italy.
At first, Willa was not receptive to the idea, but she decided to go with it, because why not? This, of course, isn’t the basis for a healthy marriage. Nonetheless, Connor seems too lonely and desperate to care whether she truly loves him or not.
