Stunning Minecraft Build Replicates World Of Warcraft’s Elysian Hold

The holy sanctum for the Kyrian convent from World Of Warcraft’s latest expansion, Shadowlands, has been meticulously replicated in Minecraft by a talented builder. The Elysian Hold’s impressive vanilla Minecraft adaptation continues to demonstrate how creative some players can be with the right inspiration.

Iconic MMO World Of Warcraft’s regularly updated expansion, Shadowlands, takes players into a whole new realm of reality – the afterlife. This is a first for the game, with Shadowlands taking place across five different plains of the afterlife. There is a World of Warcraft version of heaven, hell, purgatory, Valhalla, and a realm continuing a tree of life. Each of these new zones is in need of help, with the world of Azeroth cut off from the cycle of reincarnation, which is only discovered after Sylvanas Windrunner breaks the barrier between Azeroth and the Shadowlands.

Originally teased as a work-in-progress on Reddit in February, user WinzuMonk has been working on this World of Warcraft-inspired build for some time now. The latest update in the creator’s work shows that they have finally finished their recreation of the Elysian Hold. While it’s not a spitting image of the Bastion zone’s most striking location, that’s largely due to the build’s scale, as detail sometimes has to be sacrificed in blocky Minecraft in order to not lose a sense of place when actually exploring on foot.

The Kyrian are the messengers and couriers of the afterlife, considered to be the purest of the souls who have passed. The appearance of the Kyrian is based on angels, earning their wings and becoming Ascended through guiding lost souls through the afterlife. Shadowlands‘ Bastion location is themed after Greek, Sumerian, Norse, and Abrahamic mythos and cultures. WinzuMonk has done a great job in using the blocks available in Minecraft to capture the magical atmosphere of the Bastion zone.

The floating citadel has been lovingly recreated, really matching the angelic themes and creativity the developers at Blizzard wanted to create for players. The textures, colours and proportions are all really well done. Even the more difficult aspects, such as the fact the citadel is floating, has been managed with creative solutions. The sheer size and scale of this creation is impressive and speaks volumes about the amount of love that players have for the long-running MMO sensation that is World of Warcraft
