Stranger Things Star Promises “Good Things” For Steve In Season 5

Stranger Things Star Promises “Good Things” For Steve In Season 5

Stranger Things actor Joe Keery teases what to expect from his fan-favorite character Steve Harrington in the upcoming final season of the hit Netflix series. In Stranger Things season 1, Steve seemed like the stereotypical popular and arrogant high school bully. The end of the first season began to show that he was more than that, but it was in season 2 that he truly became a beloved character through the unlikely bond he forged with Dustin Henderson, with Steve becoming a caring protector for the younger characters.

During an interview with The Movie Dweeb, Keery was asked about what to look forward to as Steve’s journey continues in Stranger Things season 5. While Keery is unable to reveal any specifics about what’s next for Steve, he does share his enthusiasm for what he’s filmed so far following the final season beginning production in January. He also shared how he feels about Steve’s story in season 5. Check out Keery’s comments below:

“From the stuff that I’ve read I think there’s literally nothing I can say about anything. But
I do get to have some good, good things this time around
. Yeah, I’m excited. It’s fun. It’s been very fun already.”

What Will Happen To Steve In Stranger Things Season 5?

Stranger Things Star Promises “Good Things” For Steve In Season 5

With Steve’s Stranger Things evolution making him a perfect season 5 victim, there is naturally concern about whether he will survive the dangers posed by Vecna and the Upside Down. Stranger Things has killed likable supporting characters, including Barb Holland, Bob Newby, Dr. Alexei, and Eddie Munson, but it has yet to kill off a major character like Steve. The show has been unwilling to do this so far, even when it seemed as though it might with Jim Hopper’s sacrifice in the season 3 finale.

Stranger Things Season 3 Recap & Season 4’s Biggest Questions

Stranger Things season 4 is almost upon us. Here’s everything to remember from Stranger Things season 3, and the biggest lingering questions.

Nevertheless, as the final season of the series and with the stakes higher than ever, Steve’s death is a possibility. Sacrificing himself to save Dustin, his good friend Robin Buckley, or Nancy Wheeler would be a logical and potentially satisfying way to culminate his character arc. Along with the question of survival, Steve’s feelings for Nancy also need to be resolved. Despite their breakup early in season 2 and both having seemingly moved on by season 3, their relationship and their feelings for each other were rekindled in season 4.

Between long distance and other life changes, Nancy and Jonathan Byers may no longer be an ideal fit. With Jonathan now back in Hawkins, he and Nancy have to figure out what’s next for their relationship, which will impact what’s next for Steve. Romance aside, Stranger Things season 5 will surely see Steve busy continuing to look out for Dustin, Robin, Nancy, and everyone he cares about as he fights to protect Hawkins and the entire world from Vecna and the Upside Down, all while continuing to display the humor and acceptance that made him a fan favorite.
