Stranger Things Cast Plays D&D In Real Life In Upcoming Special Video

Members of the Stranger Things cast assemble to play D&D in a fun new video. Upon its premiere in 2016, Stranger Things became an overnight sensation for Netflix, winning over fans with its excellent cast and 80s nostalgia. The first season tracked the mysterious disappearance of Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) and its connection to a dangerous realm known as the Upside Down. Since Will’s return, the show has delved deeper into the Upside Down as more threats emerge, culminating in an epic showdown at the end of season 3. Stranger Things season 3 premiered back in July 2019, and fans have been waiting for the next batch of episodes ever since.

Unfortunately, Stranger Things season 4 has endured quite the setback at the hands of the coronavirus pandemic. Production began earlier this year with an eye on an early 2021 release, but the pandemic shut down filming not long after it started. Stranger Things was halted for several months before starting up again in the fall, bringing a slew of set photos and teases with it. Fans were even treated to a peek at select cast members, led by David Harbour, playing Dungeons & Dragons virtually. At the time, it looked like the D&D match was leading up to something bigger, and now it’s clear it was.

Thanks to NXOnNetflix, Stranger Things stars Harbour, Finn Wolfard, Natalia Dyer, and Galen Matarazzo have assembled to play D&D in a video that will be released on YouTube this Friday, December 18. “The cast of Stranger Things played a DnD one shot and you get to watch the whole thing in 3 days,” the official announcement reads. A teaser for the event has also been included, hyping up a quest to save Christmas. Titled “Lost Odyssey: Toy Time for Ten-Towns,” this is one D&D adventure Stranger Things fans can’t miss. Check out the video down below.

Had the year gone as planned, Netflix might be gearing up for a Stranger Things season 4 premiere by now. At the very least, season 4 would’ve been a lot closer than it is right now. Therefore, this D&D game is a nice holiday gift for fans who have spent the past year-plus waiting for new episodes. While the game will only include a few cast members, it’s still bound to be an entertaining video. The real question is: How long will it end up being?

That will become clear in just a few days, when Stranger Things‘ latest foray into Dungeons & Dragons arrives online. It’s fitting that the cast will play D&D, since several of the show’s core characters were first seen playing the fantasy game back in season 1. In fact, this video will give fans the chance to see if the cast members are as good at D&D as their characters are. Stranger Things season 4 might be a ways away, but this is a good way to pass the time.
